Anyone here had Kawasaki's Disease? Or had a family member on the spectrum also have Kawasaki's??

All three Aspies in my (extended) family also appear to have or have had KD and I am curious if it is just my family where the two seem to go together....?

No - no kawasaki disease. But this is a disease related to the autoimmune system -I have food allergies and asthma. My son (AS) has asthma. I have read there is a link between the autoimmune system disorders and ASD's.
My friend's DS who has HFA had Kawasaki's last year. I would say the same as Lucie 1 - that some people link ASD to a family history of autoimmune problems, and KD would attack that area.

This makes sense.  My son, DH, and nephew all also have or have had asthma.

Quote:
Extremely bloodshot or red eyes (without pus or drainage)
Bright red, chapped, or cracked lips
Red mucous membranes in the mouth
Strawberry tongue, white coating on the tongue, or prominent red bumps on the back of the tongue
Red palms of the hands and the soles of the feet
Swollen hands and feet
Skin rashes on the middle of the body, NOT blister-like
Peeling skin in the genital area, hands, and feet (especially around the nails, palms, and soles)
Swollen lymph nodes (frequently only one lymph node is swollen), particularly in the neck area
Joint pain and swelling, frequently one both sides of the body

lol....er..I have most of these symptoms except swollen lymph nodes and fever.

I have peeling skin on my hands and feel especially when they get wet but not in the genital area.
I don't have any of those symptons thank God...sounds very nasty.

Me either...nor any of my family, to my knowledge.

I also had terrible asthma when I was younger.  Didn't go away until I was 15.
Sounds like 2 mutations on 1 chromosome; ya get both or ya get none.
