Out of curiosity, how many of the Aspies and Auties out there have two or more cowlicks? (those curious little swirls in hair that grow in the opposite direction) The reason I ask is that a mom I know with two sons on the spectrum told me that not only do both of her boys have double cowlicks, every other student in her son's autistic class has them as well, there are four other students. My son has double cowlicks on the crown of his head, and another friend with an autistic son tells me her little guy has several cowlicks. I just wonder if there's a connection between the expression of multiple cowlicks and spectrum disorders. So my question - do you have multiple cowlicks? Any genetics experts out there ever heard of this connection?
Thanks for indulging my curiosity.
Jodie
Doesn't need to be genetic, might just be how some autistics tend to treat their hair.
I have a cowlick, always bothers hair stylists.

This one little corner of hair behind my ear dries longer somehow or something... I'm always working on it even after a cut. Interesting correlation though, but I was under the impression that cowlicks were actually pretty universal, especially for young boys.

Don't have any hair standing up, but then I haven't had it cut since '92 and wear it in a tail. As far as the hair pattern goes (which directions the folicles point) I have two swirls. Interesting correlary it indeed there is correlation.
Ok, after googling images for "cowlick" and having studied my own hair I conclude that I might have a cowlick. While I also have abit curly hair aswell.

yes-on the fringe and by the ears- i "fixed" the fringe one by tearing it out though

(i wouldnt advise it...hurts..)

Bump!
My son had his hair cut yesterday and the hairdresser commented that both my son and his father both have two cowlicks, in more or less the same place on their heads. She described it as having "two crowns"...
Yeah, a cowlick is a bit where part of your hair decides it needs to grow in the opposite direction from the rest, making that bit stick up funny (as if a cow had licked you.) I have one in front on the right that basically dictates how I part my hair. Ivar you might want to think about using a flash...
Two. Right up front. My mother had a hateful habit of having the barber leave them a bit longer than the rest of my hair.
grrrr
No idea if I've cowlick anymore.

as a person who has done probably over 200,000 haircuts in my career ,I can say say the correct terms are crown for the top back of the scalp , and swirls for everywhere else on the scalp...and everyone except those unfortunate enough to be bald has them. so it is just coincidence with the autistic
Ah, well!
That's the end of that then!
