Ugh... I seem to have picked up a problem, though it involves the whole family more than me.

Anyway; at least 3 months ago we were all going out to the local pub - rare since I rarely do anything sociable with the family. The road connecting the pub is a thin single lane dirt track with passing points and a blind hump in the middle.

We were driving up this single lane road when another car (Spanish driver) comes over the blind bump at like 40 or 50mph, realises his error, and ends up plowing into us. Thankfully nobody was hurt, and he immediatly told everyone he took full responsibility and we exchanged insurance details and it all seemed happy families. The next day though we got a phone call from Insurance saying that the details of the other vehicle were false, and furthermore someone had filed against us saying our driver had been drunk, and he was using our signed details from the original exchange to back up that.

Anyway, we got a call from him to "exchange details properly", which we attended... his "proper details" being "I'll kill you all if you notify the police", of course wern't very impressed with that but stood our ground insurancewise but didn't notify the police because frnkly the guy seems psychopathic and the British have an inherent lack of faith in Spanish police since usually when they get called out they say "eh no evidence" then find some infraction to fine YOU on, like you wern't wearing a bright yellow jacket while driving or somesuch, or couldn't answer the polciemans question because you don't speak fluent spanish. THankfully when we notified the insurance of the situation they phoned him and he told the guy on the PHONE "I'll kill you if you don't give me the money" and they ruled automaticlly in our favour.

A few weeks later the parents encountered him again, he chased them on the motorway for some time before cornering them and blockading them with his car, after which he began punching the bonnet with his bare hands and winning while screaming maniclly, they managed to drive away, but since the only witnesses were already biased against him, they can't do anything.

Last month, dad encountered him again, whereas he again tried ramming him off the road, cornered the car and began attacking it with his bare hands while screaming, and again dad escaped, but again nobody cares because there's never any other witnesses and he drives away moment the police get mentioned.

Finally, today one of our neighbours comes to our house:
Neighbour: "Hey Bob! - The guy with your timber is here"
Me: "There isn't a bob at our house and we didn't order timber"
Neighbour: "Bob... Roberts, your dad"
Me: "There ISN'T a bob here, and that man isn't selling timber"
*Neighbour walks right past me and leads the stranger in with him*
Neighbour: "There you are bob"
Stranger: "I'm gonna come back here AND FUCKING KILL YOU ALL!" (In Spanish)
*Stranger jumps in his car; still battered from the crash and drives off*

Gee nice going... you led him right to our house. Unfortunatly I'm the only person there who understood waht he said and since I was part of the crash I'm an invalid witness because I'm biased.

This guy is gonna come back I won't doubt and cause some serious criminal damage sooner or later, and nobody seems to care. I mean we've notified the police again and see if they do anything THIS time... but still. The thing that bugs me the most, is in my lfietime I've been threatened with knives, bottles, attacked by random strangers, bullied to nervous breakdown and now I have a psychopath who punches sheet metal and wins stalking me, I'm only 23 and never leave the house anymore because of how horrible people are.

Humanity are animals arn't they? - I mean, really... they kill maim and mutilate for fun and personal gain. At least, the ones I've met do. (One woman once beat up my sister and tried to attack me and my niece when I was 13 - though I grabbed her out the way and locked us in a room, she shortly after stabbed her boyfriend to death and is still in jail today)
Reminds me of this guy that would bother me in tenth grade. People watched, and did nothing - Letting him fool himself as much as he wanted. Luckily it wasn't to the extent that I would call bullying. Just some few very nasty incidents.
Heh, I can't get my desktop webcam to work right let alone rig up a motion sensitive one to record only when triggered =p

Well, we've handed him a denouncia today, well, the police anyway, I've yet to see their full response since it's gotta go through a translator. So I expect he'll either leave us alone (unlikely) or in the next week we'll see him come along and try do some serious damage (Thankfully Spanish houses are all brick, tiles and cement and so arson doesn't tend to work)

I did have an intresting thought; he keeps threatening us with violence if we don't give him money - if we were to agree he'd have to take us down the bank to make sure we did take it out, the bank has CCTV and a door lock so if we went down there with him, slammed the door and made a scene, he'd without doubt get angry (on camera), and probably cause enough of a disturbance to make the attendant sound the silent alarm.
...on the way back from the police station he and another guy (tall burly type) tried run the car off the road AGAIN where there were no witnesses, tried blockade them (for the 3rd time), when they failed he tried smash the windscreen as they drove past and the burly guy actually tried chase the car ON FOOT (wtf).

The police have been notified but they said "meh, call this number and give us this case ID if they do it again", so the police won't act unless they strike again and each attack has been more violent than the last so I don't care to consider whether the police will act until someone is seriously hurt or killed. i mean think about it; he's threatened to kill us, and keeps trying to catch us when we're by ourselves and can't escape (It's motly desert mountain here)

We were able to get his ID from the police when they looked him up from his car records; the car and name he gave at the crash were his dads as we thought, and it seems he's the same age as me. WHich lends further credance to my theory that all my peers are monsters, I was bullied inssecantly in school by my own age group, the few my own age group I've met in Spain on the rare occasion I dare leave the house have threatened aor attacked me randomly and now I have a guy my age comign to my own home threatening to kill me.

You do have a point Lucie…
Personal safety and peace of mind are paramount--and far more important than personal processions. I just don’t like the idea of anyone being bullied out their home by some deranged half wit.

Another way to look at it is that if you stay you give at least the police what they want, if however the police or Spanish governmentals notice that people leave because they feel unsafe they would have to improve security for foreign people.

Well, this mornign the Civil Guard came around and told us to be at the station for 12 so I thought things were finlly getting moving.

...when we got there we were cautioned that a certain Diego (Yeah the same one who's been giving us threats) had filed a report that our dog had bitten him when he came over our house to "sort out insurance details", so now we have a court case against *us*

Of course the entire thing will fall apart when they discover we don't *own* a dog, but this is gettign rediculous, the police seem to be on his side because we're the "immigrants"
Damn those are bad people!

(yeah, I repeat myself)
I honestly don't know how you could survive this. The idea is the most horrifying thing I could think of. I wish it was just as easy as saying, this guy has threatened me and my family lock them up. However, usually people who do this sick behaviour also happen to be very manipulative, so as not to be caught.
Alright, this has reached a new level of stupidity.

We went out on the road after a week of no nonsense from him and, lo and behold he was sat parked in a layby WAITING for us. We drove past and he came out acting like a maniac again, which we've gotten kind of used to, it'll be the 6th time.

Anyway, when this failed, he pulled alongside our driver side window, and pointed a GUN out the passenger window. Needless to say we sped off at that point.

But this is gettign rediculous, dad has angina and each of these attacks makes him really ill and he's worrying himself to death, the police arn't intrested because we can't PROVE any of this because there's never any witnesses besides us, and dad gets even worse state when we try file anything.

We're essentially trapped in our own home, nobody wants to help and if this keeps up someone's going to die, what the hell are we meant to do?
I mean, seriously, I need help now - my parents are in no position to take any action, because dad would probably have a heart attack simply from the stress of proceedings, and it'll probably take too long anyway, because the guy keeps attacking us, if the process takes months, he'll have attacked us several more times before the proceedings complete.

As it is, he keeps attacking every single time he sees us and... we can't prevent it. The law protects him more than it protects us.

as soon as the feckwit trys anything *snap* instaproof!

I suggested that, but they havn't taken it up yet. at any rate, in every incident to date mum's been catatonic with fear and she's the one usually in the passenger seat, in most the incidents I havn't been there anyway/

have you considered getting a new car,or the one you have recoloured?

It wont last long, but it might fool them for awhile.

have you contacted the embassy?

He knows where we live, he only needs come past our house to work out that we have a new car, and he'd likely smash that one up too.

I've suggested we contact the embassy but our translator says the last time that happened with one of her clients the Spanish police got really annoyed and made the process much harder, at least right now if we survive the few months til the court case on the dog bite there is a slim chance the judge will take into account the full range of charges he's racked up himself, and get a barring order or worse which'll give us permanenet protection from him

Personally though I don't like the idea of sitting about for 1 to 3 months, given that attacks have gone from monthly to weekly basis and are getting more and more dangerous.

where do you stand, self defence wise?

if he where to come to your house, how would the law regard you attacking him back,if he is threatening?

Not a clue, I'm under the impression he has to strike the first blow and I can then respond with equal force;

The only part of Spanish law that protects us is that NOBODY can enter your property without permission with the exception of the emergency services and armed forces, if you tell someone to get off your property and they refuse you are in your rights to physically remove him from it. And if he escalates that the law would probably look favourably on us....

Why is this person threatening you and demanding money when his family is so rich, they bail him out?  Are they not concerned so much about their family image that they would not try to stop this person?  If only you could find someone influential to apply pressure.  Maybe the embassy can help in introducing your family to someone who can help even if they can not use diplomatic channels.
