My country is a small one, some 300 square kilometres with 400,000 people. No one seems to have ever heard of Asperger's, with the possible exception of psychology students and graduates. Telling people I have Asperger's brings about a blank stare, so I end up telling them I have a form of autism, which on the other hand carries with it a very incomplete and inaccurate image.

Needless to say, there is no support structure that caters for Aspies down here, which does present a problem. Is there anyone in a similar isolation here? How does it affect you? Is there something I can do?

maybe you could get together a group of people who understand aspergers and set up a group with meetings and stuff to educate people about aspergers and hey why stop there educate people even further about autism

Although my country (US) has resources, my state, being remote and sparsely populated  (Alaska) doesn't have much in terms of resources; any resources that exist would be in Anchorage (me being in Fairbanks, would require a 7 hour drive or a ~$250 plane ticket). Unfortunately, I have found that I have had to be some sort of educator when situations came up (rarely thankfully) that required other parties to have the knowledge of my autistic tenancies.

One solution may be to make up, search for, or purchase a packet of "Aspie information cards" and distribute them to other parties when needed. Other than that, I feel your predicament.

Hope that I have at least attempted to help?
