We've all had to pick one to register, but why did we pick ours?
Perhaps it was just a semi-random name put in just because you had to. For others however, there might be a deeper meaning to it. Maybe there's an interesting story to be told, or this post is destined to go down this list with no replies to its belt. I'm not sure what will happen, but here it goes...
...as to my own, not much of an interesting story but here goes. Some of the most enterprising (or Celtic) of you might realize its a name, a translation of the common name John, which is my real name.
My nickname, which I've taken to use wherever one is required (forums, messenger, etc.) is meant to represent how I feel like a foreigner in my home every time. To some extent I look foreign, and I seem to act foreign (however involuntarily), leading to my compatriots usually assuming I am a foreigner when dealing with me (my eventual diagnosis did explain a lot). A cursory look at my family tree reveals both Irish and Scottish ancestry, so Eoin it is.
Not much of a story, I know. But maybe I've challenged someone to entertain us all with a superior anecdote. Anyone?
My nickname is composed of the german word for I (ich) and my christian name Tomas (minus the wovels) and just to confuse matters a bit more; I'm not from Germany but nonetheless I am from a country - namely Sweden. It wasn't until after some time that I saw that I could remix the letters of the nickname into c. smith. There is no wrong way to pronounce it; I should add...
No great anecdote here I'm afraid. I chose my name because a few people have commented that I am somewhat "ethereal" and I simply like the word and what it means.
As my home is Ireland, although I'm currently in Australia, I know quite a lot of Eoins. (For the non-Celtic here, it is pronounced 'Owen').
Well, you wanted a story, here (abbreviated, honestly!

) is mine:
My nick-name is actually the name of my motorcycle. Many years ago.... (actually 1978) I had a Suzuki GS400 that was very bouncy, and could creep quietly up behind other vehicles until I opened the throttle to overtake - and then it would roar. It was nick-named 'Tigger' by my mates in the bike club, and that started a tradition of giving me all sorts of Tigger-related paraphernalia for birthdays and Christmas.
After having had rotten experiences on ice and snow in previous winters on other bikes I decided the time had come to put a third wheel on - so I attached a sidecar.
Many years (and assorted motorcycles with bizarre names) pass........
It is 1999. We have owned a Honda GoldWing for a few months, but hubby likes it so much I rarely get to ride it. I decide to sell the minibus and buy my own GoldWing - with a sidecar for the kids. My second sidecar outfit.
The one I buy has 'WWW' on its numberplate. I think 'WorraWorraWorra' - Tigger's war cry! So now I have a new Tigger, this time a GoldWing - hence Tigger_the_Wing.
When I move to Ireland the following year it is re-registered, but keeps the name. Now all the members of the bike club start calling ME Tigger!
When I had a few aspie related problems as a child my father use to tell me I should be like a duck...."smooth on the surface and paddle like the devil underneath."
I’m still paddling to this day.
My user name is a rendition of my older user name for various forums. I was thinking of using my older user name (realyinsanedude) here, but I decided to make it more fitting. So I threw "autistic" into it.
The reason I have "insanity" in my name is because I am sort of obsessed with the word itself, and I kinda match the simpler definition of insanity (which is repeating something over and over, expecting a different result).
Lestat, god only knows WHEN it came about, or who gave me the nickname, but I now use it as my real name, until at least my current legal problems are over, then I'm changing it be deed poll
It comes from the vampire chronicles, by Anne Rice (queen of the damned, interview with the vampire, memnoch the devil, and other books in the series) lestat is the aristocratic, somewhat arrogant vampire, with a badass style in general, and probably came from the fact that I'm a goth, and into sexual blood drinking.
Mine is just my first name (obviously).
My name is Louise, and I'm on my own planet half the time. The star in the middle (forgotten it's actual name) was included because it's a bit more interesting than just a dash,
well i chose "flardox" because my younger rother is called fraser and i am called lloyd , and so when ever my mum would call me she started to say fraser but would then say lloyd of course this sounded like "floyd". Later on my sister shortened it down to "flox" then when making a yahoo account i couldn't think what to put as a name so I thought of what my sister called me and developed it and "flardox" was born!
now i think about it though it, could be made from another nickname as well because in my family we come up with strange nick names that sound like our real names so i ended up with "lard" i may have thought of this as well and put this into my screen name.
erkolos is something I used since I made an account on Lego because I wanted to play this Lego online game.
I'm frequently thinking about changing it, but can simply not decide to what.

I think erkolos is a very good name!
I know this sounds weird bu the name matches your picture it sounds demonic which is good for a evil aspie!
Some ideas that I've thought of are:
Sacciarrow [Satch-a-row] or Sciatharrow (haven't decided which yet) which is the name(s) I've given the character in the AV.
The Telegraphist or The Officer - It would be cool to be a The- Something.
Cobruce or Pogruce - don't they sound demonic?
Cepterine Sor'lakk - But something tells me that it isn't possible with " ' " in a username, but it sounds demonic, right?
EvilGuy - I nicked myself as that in the WP chatroom once, then Arsanerit/Nerit/Gerrit who knows me from other rooms asked if I could speak norwegian.
-> THE ENEMY <- ... Sadly it wont be accepted as username.
Myoterm - I made lots of characters when I played WoW, none of them were named erkolos, so this is one of those characters. I don't know what it supposedly would mean. I know "myo" has something to do with muscles but I don't know of "term". Another name I used on my characters at WoW would be Mathovo and Marnecratz (the latter would probably sound better in norwegian than English).
I like inventing names, I often do that when I'm thinking actually.

I love the duck quote.
Mine is from a nickname - Rachabelle that my husband gave me after reading a book about a cockroach and an alley cat - called Archy and Mehitabel.
The only copy I know of in existence is with my step-mother. It's a brilliant book though. It even has a chapter where Archy, the typing cockroach tries to commit suicide (he jumps out the 5th story window and floats up to the seventh).
Fishing Buddy is what my father called me...my Fifth grade teach called me Tigger cause I could never sit still....and Pat...well some how I have been deemed Solupin...Sun Wolf :3
