I thought I'd start a thread about funny stuff that no one else seems to think twice about.  I love the aspie mind, so there's got to be lots all of us notice, chuckle to ourselves about, then don't really think of again.

If this happens to you, write it down, then repeat it here.

Like...I've asked many times, and NO ONE (not even bank managers)
have been able to give me a logical explanation for....

Why is this??   In the United States, at drive-up ATM's, where the clearly printed buttons are - why are they in braille??

If there are drivers out there that need this clarification, the rest of us are SCREWED.

Because it is a standard telephone keypad.  They don't special order ATM keypads.

How about this one. Those outside the U.S. may not understand it, but I got the biggest kick out of an intersection in Texas that had 4 Yield signs posted -- possibly the only 4-way yield in the country.

I'm always amused at the 'Blind People Cross Here' signs. I always wonder how the blind people know they're meant to cross there.

When I see those signs, I wonder why they're so angry - and if there are cross blind people, why hasn't someone tried to calm them down, instead of just installing a sign?

Well, here is some philosophical questions.

If a synchronized swimmer drowns, what do the rest do?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
If pro means to move foward, con means to move backwards (Something like that)
If progress is good, then what is congress? Tongue
Once when I was waiting for my daughter to get off a greyhound bus, the warning sign to passengers, for what they are not allowed to board or stow on the bus, read something like this:

Passengers may not stow or carry on:  mace, knives, guns, acids, fireworks, dynamite, corpses, (etc.)

I thought it interesting that they would need to clarify these items.  My autistic son couldn't understand why people would use a mace (from the 1500's) when they have guns now.

...And if you can't stow or carry it on, would it be alright if someone in their own car followed behind the bus with these items?
It's really not that hard to think of logical explanations for these.

The blind person would, at some point, have the sign pointed out to him by a friend, relative, or social worker, just once or twice until he can find it on his own.

Drive up ATMs may still be used by pedestrians.  There is also an earphone plug there for the blind person to hear the options expressed on the display.

My theory about the blind cross signs, is there must be some standard depth of ditch, where Q is the quantity of water present, V is the velocity of the approaching vehicle, B the quantity of blind people present at any one puddle spot in any one time, and A(anger) how damn cross said blind people get when vehicle passes by at speed, hitting puddle on the way thus Q*V=BA=proportional amount of anger experienced by a given amount of blind people waiting at the crossing, when hit by filthy muddy water, driven faceward by a vehicle of a given velocity Big Grin

So, according to your equation, if Q is expressed in liters, and V is expressed in meters per second, and B is a unitless quantity, then the SI unit for anger would be liters-meters per second, or L*m/s.  That is equivalent to 3.6 L*km/hr or 0.591 gal*mi/hr.  Convert L*m/s to the acronym LMS, and we have the London Mathematical Society!

Tonic, I just posted my joke on a site I visit (bluelight.ru), do you mind if I post your followup in the same thread?

Sure.  Just don't say who it's from.

Actually, they are not.  As the drive-up ATM did not say "no pedestrians" of course I walked up...and then was strongly reprimanded by the bank manager.

"The sign says Drive-up, not walk up!"  Loudly.
"It doesn't say you can't walk up."  Defensively.
"It shouldn't have to.  Cars come through here quickly and are not expecting a pedestrian.  You could be hit by a car.  Please don't walk up to this ATM, use the one inside."

I've never "walked up" to an ATM again.  I still think signs should be specific.
A few years ago a car new insurance policy arrived, I duly read this & one of the conditions was that I was not to carry any dangerous items in my car.

I was curious as to what they considered to be dangerous items.

I telephoned & was told " well you know, bomb making equipment & things like that."

I asked for a list of everything that they would consider to be dangerous.

I was issued a new policy with this paragraph removed.Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin
I was in the supermarket the other day and I saw a sign saying "Handicap-accessible bathroom Upstairs", accompanied by a picture of the little figure in the wheelchair.

Does anyone else find this oxymoronic?
It would be funny if there was no elevator going upstairs. Did you see one in there?
