Misunderstood or not, I doubt it matters. People make instant judgements, and defend them without question. We almost always lose on those instant judgements, and everything else we do, no matter how correct it is, will only strengthen the negative view that (most) people already have of us.

I heard 1 in 58, at one stage! Of course, that's estimated total numbers, not just diagnosed...
