I am babysitting a dog right now.  It got sprayed in the head by a skunk a few weeks ago and it still smells bad.  Now the dog is sitting on my couch when I am not looking and after I sit there, I stink too.

She smells the worst when wet or after she takes a drink of water.  We tried bathing her last night with dog shampoo,  and a mixture of soda water, bicarbonate of soda and peroxide.  I don't think I left it one long enough before I rinsed.  I also don't want to make the dog sick or hurt her.  She hates getting bathed.  She liked the blower dry on her though.

What else can I do to get rid of the stink?
A dog smells like a dog, and a human smells like a human.
And this shouldn't be changed by any shampoo or deodorant.
Fortunately I never had to smell a skunk, but i think that it's supposed to be much badder than a dog.
But I understand, that the dogs smell is really upsetting you.
Hope you don't have to suffer long.
There is a spray called "Skunk Off" sold at some vets, pet stores and online at Amazon.com.  It is supposed to be good.

Here are home made dog de-skunking instructions from the net but I think the safest thing is call a vet for advice.

Bathe it tomato juice.  Works like a charm.
I can't use tomato juice.  It is a white dog.  It got sprayed before and they used tomato juice and ended up with a pink dog.

I am getting a recipe from a vet's office.  Thanks.
