Slows down the prosess in the brain...
That sounds a bit like anti-epileptica...or?

Apparently this local aspie I know has been on risperdal, the person hated it apparently, I hope the person can give me some more insight.

I also know an aspie who hates that drug.
The person feels it has made it very different from usual in many ways

I used to be given a combination of Ritalin in the day, and a Risperdal at night..

Risperdal is nasty. it makes you hungry after about 5 minutes, and then about 15 minutes after you take the pill...you crash. and its not a nice sleep, its a really deep sleep, and you wake up barely recovered.
In the words of my mother, "it zombifies you".
It would be wonderful if people put more thought into low arousal environments in public places.

*sighs wistfully and imagines utopia*
I might add, that I have very little memory of the time when I was given Ritalin and Risperdal.

DogBrain, not only have you offended one of your fellow Aspies, you still carry that rather grotesque nickname, when I complained to you earlier about the disharmony of it.  Tongue

I choose the sabre.  Tongue

Your nickname is a violation of trademark law, so at least I'm not a criminal.

OOH Dogbrain with the humor again Smile.... batman and dogbrain - back to the bat cave and go get your leash!

With aspies, (and with doctors but that's not gonna happen) I think everyone needs to be very specific about which drug exactly before anyone starts talking about pros and cons.

I've been TRYING to be very specific.  Did I not mention aripiprazole by name?  Just how could I be more specific than that?  It's been others who have insisted upon being vague.

I reiterate the problem is with mis-information and disinformation ... out there - it is insurmountable to try to deal with in here.  Dogbrain is being very specific, an aspie quality and his personality no doubt.

(sigh)

see dogbrain - alien girl took your insults and rage over the so called professional, and anyone else who read what you typed too,  as a direct insult to her - because you were not as careful to be specific with your insults as you were careful to be specific with your facts/names or drugs...

I am going to have to respectfully disagree.  Even on your posts, he tends to attack and not read what the person actually says.  He becomes so inflamed that he attacks without provocation, and without reason.  We need less of that attitude on AFF.  It is divisive and not merited in the least.

How many of the "professionals" you cite specifically showed familiarity with aripiprazole, for example, or did they ignorantly lump it together with all "anti-psychotics" based on their experience with risperidone/risperdal and drugs that operate on the same mechanism as does risperidone?

Kindly ask them yourself. I am just the messenger and would prefer not to be attacked for this.

In other words, you haven't the faintest idea.  I checked the web site you mention, and there were no blanket statements thereupon about "anti-psychotics" as a whole.  Instead, only three specific drugs were mentioned.  They were as follows:

A serotonin receptor antagonist:  Risperidone.
Two dopanine receptor + serotonin receptor antagonists: Quetiapine and Olanzapine.

Of the three, only risperidone had more than a single sentence devoted to it, and it was hardly a condemnatory piece.

Oddly enough, there was nothing said on the site denouncing "anti-psychotics" as an entire group of medications.

This site needs edit.  I typed "dopanine" when I meant to type "dopamine".

WHY ARE YOU PICKING ON ME! I merely referred to what was said at the conference.

I am not a medical professional and I never said I was.

What they said about anti psychotics was at the conference I don't know whether or not it is on the website.

You are calling me a liar, I am not a liar.

I don't know what meds they are and aren't familiar with if you want to know email them and ask.

STOP BULLYING ME!!!

LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE.

GARETH - HELP ME

If learning disableds areen't welcome on AFF please say once and for all.

Why is he picking on me, I don't understand.

Aliengirl, wait, he is just like that, it IS NOT YOU!  Please, report the post and give the moderators/owners time.  I am so sorry.

aliengirl Wrote:
It is not okay that he is just like that. It is mean.

It is mean.  I did not say it was ok.  I do not think it is ok.  I am very sorry that this is happening to you.  Please report it and ask that the moderators intervene.

I was the same, if you see my first few posts, you'll see I was a aggressive and whatnot.

he just needs to grow up a bit.

Probably a 2-day or a one-week ban (I would guess.)

How he acted toward aliengirl was wrong, and he deserves the ban.  But when he comes back, I'm not sure we can ask him to "change his personality."  DogBrain is DogBrain... he's a reactive and he goes on tangents.

It's a one-week ban, and we are asking him to modify his behavior - that's kind of the point of suspension.

I do not recall him ever having been given a warning - so this is a warning I guess.  I think sometimes warnings or directions or rules of engagement should be very specific, esepcailly with certain people, no?  - How can one know the parameters sometimes - some people may not be aware of when they are going over the line if they are not told...

from earlierto dogbrain: "your insults and rage over the so called professional, and anyone else who read what you typed too,  as a direct insult - because you were not as careful to be specific with your insults as you were careful to be specific with your facts/names or drugs... " It's like you had blinders on and didn't realize you were shooting the messenger.

I hope his aim is better controlled.  I don't think he knew he was hurting anyone - (eternal optimist)
