I don't know what to make of this. Very strange sale ad on ebay today in which a woman tells a long tale about selling this $5 toy magic wand to "free" her autistic son. Maybe I got lost in the very long type. I don't understand the actual purpose of the ad. What do you think?

He has finally been correctly diagnosed with Asperger’s, An Autism Spectrum Disorder
He is in a Vermont Prison as this listing is being created! The Vermont D.O.C. will RECONSIDER
Please read his story
HE WAS EXPLOITED
HE DOES NOT BELONG IN A PRISON
NOR DOES HE DESERVE TO BE
He is now 25 years old.
He has been in prison for over a year
His sentence doesn’t end until March of 2010
BUT WE MAY SUCCEED IN HAVING HIM RELEASED FOR TREATMENT
And I must be prepared to help
The misdiagnosis of this DEVELOPMENTAL disorder has been devastating and tragic My son was misdiagnosed for TWENTY YEARS as having the following psychiatric disorders: As amazing and incredible as it may sound, This is not a joke:
Childhood Abuse (# 1)
Underlying Childhood Anxiety (# 2)
Bipolar Disorder (# 3)
Bipolar Disorder (mixed) (# 4)
ADHD (Severe) (#5)
A “touch” of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) ( # 6)
And finally a correct and meaningful diagnoses of Asperger’s w/ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder & Social Anxiety Disorder (# 7, 8 and 9)
Albeit too late to save him from a Felony record and subsequent imprisonment, there remains much hope for his future, but it won’t happen without some help!
My son had never been in any trouble before reaching an age where most people are expected to go forth into the world and find their way. While struggling on this journey with undiagnosed Asperger’s, he was predictably bound to fail, and tragically taken advantage of by a group of other young adults who did not hesitate to exploit him.
I know the old saying that everyone in prison is “innocent”, but in the case of my son, he truly IS - not because he wasn’t involved in any underlying “crime” but because of the very nature of this disorder and the “mind blindness” that lies at it’s core. He simply did not fully realize what he was doing!
The real criminals of the crimes were able to easily fool him into participation by withholding the truth of what they were involving him in. They gave him directions to follow, asked for his “help” and he happily obliged - thinking he was truly with friends Having no ability to question or “see” any danger to himself, and being socially isolated because of his disorder, he trusted these people who not only knowingly took advantage of his inability to see their true motives and exploited this disability, but were also never even charged in the crimes they masterminded and were the sole benefit of. If you find this unbelievable, I cannot fault you!
Asperger’s is a form of Autism where those afflicted are described as “high functioning” Autistic’s such as is depicted in the movie, “Rainman”, but unlike Rainman, their disabling condition can be quite invisible to the casual observer, even though many other behaviors are quite similar in nature.
Even though I could describe his every “symptom”, I could not name his disability other than to repeat what I had been told by numerous area “professionals” - that he had psychiatric “problems”. Needless to say, this left us with no defense, and no adequate way to explain the fact that he was not only involved in TWO felonies, but was the only one ever charged in both instances!
Through hard work, devotion and sheer will, I have managed to convince the Vermont DOC to give my son further assessment for this disorder, with the goal being his release from prison and into a residential setting where his life can be put back together by professionals who understand and can help.
In 2005, after a violation in his conditions, the DOC refused to allow my son to live at home with me, despite his need for day to day supervision and extreme difficulty in managing his own affairs. It is unlikely they will allow him to return home, where he belongs and needs to be for the simple reason he has not yet learned enough to take care of himself.
I am financially stretched to the max; having to help maintain not one, but TWO households in order to satisfy the Vermont Department of Corrections. I need the miracle of MAGIC to make this work out.
His Felony Charges: A very abbreviated summary:
His first felony charge was that of BURGLARY.
In this situation, he was with a childhood acquaintance, someone I’ll name as RJ. RJ was at the time, addicted to drugs, and had to support this habit. Having a history of inside knowledge about my son, he quickly found a way to use him as a sort of decoy and got the unwitting and unquestioning cooperation of my son; it went down like this:
As they were walking along a side street in town, RJ positioned my son at the end of a walkway to the front door of a certain home. He told my son, then 19, to “wait right here; I have to see someone and I’ll be right back”
The next thing that happened was that RJ came flying out of the front door of that house, and had two plastic shopping bags, perhaps more, in his hands - he threw one of these bags to my son, hollered “RUN!” as he dashed past the sidewalk and off in another direction. My son, having NO idea of what had just happened, began to open the bag to see what was in it - but stopped and indeed ran for his life, when the homeowner, who must have been not only terrified, but intensely angry, charged after him yelling “I’m Going to KILL you” of course, believing that this man with the bag, my son, had just burgled his home! Another occupant of the home had called police, who quickly located my now running son and arrested him. My son did not tell the police who had been with, again, not realizing that he was about to be charged with a felony, and feeling nothing more than extreme fear and confusion, decided to wait and talk to those he could trust before giving the police any information; but by then it was too late - he was in jail.
In the bag he was found with, was a pair of old sneakers and a couple of other things of no real value, but of great value to RJ who had just successfully set the stage for his successful escape from the scene with the bag he kept for himself, filled with items he later sold to support his habit - including a video camera.
His second felony charge was that of UTTERING a false instrument
Already on probation now for felony #1, my son was now part of a new class of people. I’m not saying these are all bad people, but it didn’t take them long to also see the way in which my son would obediently follow their instruction which he would do, thinking he was “helping” a “friend” and being a friend, too. This new group approached my son with a blank check, knowing that he had his own checking account and had access to his own account. (This checking account had been opened as my husband and I were tying to teach him to manage money, and he had been doing a good job and was proud of himself.) He did not question the story he was told, about a sick aunt who needed “someone” to write and cash a check for $150.00 for medicine that she needed, and they reasoned to my son, that he was the only one who could help. So, my son filled out this blank check making it out to himself, as instructed, for 150.00. Captured on video was a car that pulled up to the teller window, with two or more other individuals also in the car. This group was kind enough to give my son a ride to the bank!! The check was passed into the teller window, the cash came out and went directly into the pocket of the mastermind, who was never charged. When the police found him for questioning, he told the whole truth and was charged with this felony act.. I imagine the police officer who questioned him was thinking that this kid was crazy to think ANYONE would believe his “excuse” for having written and cashed this check, but my son told me later “They told me it would be OK!”
Since he was already on probation, the court had no option but to increase his level of supervision and they put him on what’s called in Vermont, a Supervised Community Sentence. To make a long story short, all of the symptoms of his disorder were now being scrutinized by correctional personnel, who mistook his lack of eye contact for lying, his anxiety at being talked to with sarcasm and aggression as “suspicious” and his inability to fashion weekly schedules as “not caring” or being “reckless and irresponsible”.
For every “violation” of conditions, he was sanctioned until finally imprisoned for what remained of his original sentencing - that sentence doesn’t end until March 2010!
This wand will help free him and put the pieces of his life together again
I will right a wrong, one wand at a time!
