Rant:

'Brightness' is so much more than some stupid IQ test can measure. I HATE IQ TESTS!!!!!!!!! They are divisive, and meaningless in measuring the overall person.

(That's my rant!)

If you're not very bright, you probably won't fit in on an Aspie forum or AFF.  Most Aspies here (obviously--the evidence is all over the place) are very bright.

It is one reason I am pondering a permanent departure, and have been for quite some time.  There's no use in hanging around and having no comprehension of at least 50% of the subject matter (for me, political issues and science threads.)  Ever wonder why I don't participate in those!?!

Hey, don't go! Sad

I don't take part in the political or science threads much either, except to make a joke sometimes! And most of the music threads leave me totally baffled. But I won't say 'I'm obviously too old/female/thick to participate so I'm leaving".

You look at a well-typed post and don't see the time and effort it has taken to tidy it up for posting. If I my keyboard had no 'back/delete button' the majority of my posts would be impossible to read. Tongue

You seem so unhappy. I wish there were some way of convincing you that you are a really good person. May I try?

There are a lot of us who would really miss you if you left.

The threads you post to are improved by your posts.

You make us think.

You stand up for people who are being bullied.

You are the brightest of us when it comes to 'cutting through the crap'!

Well that sounds ***.

Rant: All of you people that twitter and twatter about me being immoral, if you think business is immoral you should see what all your so called heroes like vlad the impaler and genghis khan did ;p yeah, they pulled some funky *** didn't they ya wapanese self polluting perma virgin HYPOCRITES!

For some reason, this weather we're having now is really doing me in - hot and humid and if somebody looks at me strangely because I say it is horrible, I don't like it. I've lived in North Queensland all my life and still have trouble with the heat sometimes. A good old storm would be just the thing to settle this heat but we don't get many these days.

I spent a week in Townsville. That was quite enough Queensland for me, thanks! I have great admiration for anyone who can even tolerate the permanent sauna conditions in tropical states, let alone find the energy to make a living there!

Rant for 31/10/07 - Responsibilities of the Camoflagable

It's occurred to me recently that if I'm serious about the issue of Autistic Rights, as a camouflagable spectrumite, I have a huge responsibility as to the way I live my life - people with the ability to camouflage themselves as NT's (to an extent) have the best chance of breaking down some of the misinformation about autism.

I agree. So I'm going to wear an 'Autim SA' t-shirt for my birthday party on Saturday.

I think I'll add "Aspie-licious 50-year-old" across the chest! Big Grin

OK, WfM - is there nothing 'weird' that I've done in my life that you haven't done first?!

.............So, what are your rules for when you are able to talk to a friend of a friend outside of the original meeting acquaintance?

I don't have rules, as such, but have often found myself becoming better friends with 'friends of friends' than with the 'original' friends (oops! silly sentence!Tongue).

The usual pattern has been for both me and the new friend to start including the other in general invitations, followed by specific 'dates' with only the new friend.

She sounds like she is very lucky to have you Ellen Smile

I like it! Much better than the twenty-somethings' version (in England, anyway):

'ARSED' Tongue

As in "I couldn't be arsed to go out";

"Could you be arsed to get promotion?" etc.

Going to take another break on the rant tonight. Lately I've been staying up to 1am or so trying to finish off rants, and with a 6am start for work, it's been taking its toll... This is still a fairly new skill I'm trying to develop, and it's still taking me a long while to come up with interesting topics. Hopefully I can eventually "break through the wall" and turn my creative writing ability on and off at will, but until then, I think sometimes I just need a recharge.

I'll try to get up to regular viewing again over the weekend - Signing off for now!

I will miss the everydayness of it all but completely understand. And thanks for all your rants so far. I believe it is much more difficult to find a topic, think about it, and then write about it intelligently- than to simply sit back to read all about it. However, one can hardly just passively read anything that you have written here-you have good ideas that provoke thinking.
er..can thinking be provoked? I am having trouble coming up with just ONE word
Smile
Your rants are also hugely interesting and much fun to read. You ARE a creative writer, EvilZakkie.
Take all the recharging time you need and want.
( beed and bont?)

'bont' needs one of those little 'r' trademark circly-things. Good word, great idea.

Rant for 19/11/07 - Subtle Synesthesia effects

I was thrilled last Wednesday when I found a book in the teacher's resource library titled 'What colour is Saturday'.

Sadly, it wasn't about synæsthesia but about encouraging creativity and lateral thinking in students by the juxtaposition of incongruous concepts.

Actually, I'm not certain any longer what colour Saturday is (it has faded from the brilliant blue of my childhood) but Monday is still Black, even if it is no longer in the kitchen on Sunday evenings....

Also, I believe that telegraph poles are trying to take over the world, in collaboration with the giant space hamsters that gave birth to them.

That's probably more feasable than our genes having descended from what amounts to Inbred Neanderthals ;p

Way to dehumanize.
I'm as human as anyone else, I don't believe we're some other "species" of human.
Interesting idea, Zakkie.  I like your distinction.
I hate being asked to help out with job interviews because I have a hard time giving a "first impression" of someone and deciding if he or she would be a "good fit".  I'll typically have a strong positive or negative hit on a small percentage of people and for the rest, I'll say I don't have enough data.

It reminds me a bit of times when I'd be the only female in a group meeting and someone would ask:  What do women think about X?

As if my opinion could possibly represent the "women" category?  NOT!  So odd.
Yes, that would be great. I could see myself writing something and if there was some way to get my artworks better known, it might help. However, I don't have the personal charisma that is needed to get others onto our side.
