no to boast or anything but i was wondering if any of you go to a school that really under stands you because i got to a school which has a unit attached to it for asperger kids only and we can go to lessons or do work in what we call it "the base" when i first went there in yr 8 i had no friends had missed the best part of 2 years education but now im attending almost all my lessons and have freinds in side the base and outside and it has made me realise that aspergers isnt a curse.
Sounds cool for you.
There's not much talk about AS at my school, but lately I've found a group of friends where I actually find three of them to be possible aspergians.
One is a computer wiz, another is kind of quite but apparently very smart and then one I just have feeling about.

i can relate i am now best friends with the other two yr 10's (my year) and one of them can be quite quiet but once you get to know him is extremely funny and the other is a complete techno wizz from lights to sound systems to pcs when he trys to explain something to me i just stand ther with a vacant expression lol
My school district is beyond clueless. It's hard for me even to get the counselors to read an article about Asperger's. Very frustrating...
...but, i should have commented; I am really happy to hear that you (flardox) have found such a good and comfortable and AWARE place.
If there is any way i can get information about your school's program -- anything I could show to the administrators at the three schools I work with, please PM me. A successful program like yours can be very influential in showing other schools that thye can 9and should) do the same.
I go to a school in which some students don't give a (insert "s" word) about what I have, and they just act on about what I do and who I am. Other student's there, however, seem to give an occasional judging look, like they know something about me.
The teachers, however, are really friendly to the special ed kids. They know how to act, especially to this one kid with aspergers syndrome (hes officially dxed). All of his teachers are really gentle with him, probably because they don't want him to act out the way he did last year (kicked a cardboard box across the room, and threw a keyboard at a broken computer).
I am glad that your school is working out for you so well. I don't know if we'll ever go back to school here, not because the schools are bad as that they seem to be stressful for the kids. Developmental differences are accentuated in a system where it seems everything is a competition. I can't understand why school should be so structured, what has "winning" got to do with getting a good education?

As I have mentioned in past post and conversations I am hated for my condition and ridiculed because I am different from those around me.
I went to a small private school that offered small classes (sometimes as small as just two people, but usually 5 -10) which was recommended for students that had ADD/learning disabilities/other educational needs. It was also a college preporatory school, so they really only let students attend who were planning on obtaining a post-secondary education.
I didn't meet anyone who said they had AS, though about 75% percent of the students there claimed to have been officially diagnosed with ADD or ADHD at some point in their lives.
I admit I'm rather jealous. That sounds like something I could have used in middle school... better than the girl's bathroom...
...that sounded kind of weird. What I meant was, I was always hiding out in the bathroom when I felt pressured, and your school's program sounds like a much better alternative.
The school that I'm at isn't really set up specifically for this, but it's one of the New tech highschools and it seems to attract us. It's a school with like 300 students, and there at at least three other aspies there(ones that I know from programs at the MIND institute and such). Plus me, that means that there are more than twice the number you would expect in a random population that size.
this is slightly off topic but hey its my thread!
anyway
a while back i made a powerpoint about autism as part of some work the head of my resource was so impressed with it she showed it to the governers and they thought it was fantastic so they said it should be shown on the tv screen in the canteen!!!
