This year- Hope's sophomore year- on the advice of her pricey shrink in Atlanta we reduced her academic load by one major course (science). As a result her grades have improved dramatically and the stress of school has been greatly reduced. She may or may not graduate late, but we don't care. Hope doesn't either.

I recommend it to any and all who have Aspies who struggle a bit in school. Not all Aspies are brilliant in school.

I also recommend that you turn on the subtitles on any film you show to teen Aspies. Mine has trouble processing films and I think the subtitles help her as she is a visual learner.
My son wants to drop everything except science! His national test scores in maths and English were off the top of the scale and he prefers to study history and geography at home.

He has mild hearing loss, so he also needs subtitles on films. I don't mind it too much, sometimes I find subtitles distracting, other times they are helpful. His dad really hates sub-titles, but he is a slower reader than us.

In most films I find that we can scan the sub-titles as they change and then watch the scene without looking back at them.
