Is anyone else here into yoga?

I practise ashtanga vinyasa yoga.
No - but I would like to be - I tried it once and I loved it - perhaps a way to break my internet addiction.
Internet addiction is not such a bad thing, esp. not for an Aspie--we tend to enjoy the time spent with "me, myself, and I" more than we do in social groups/activities.

I prefer to be by myself much more than other people I know, I do not see this as a sickness, but more a preference.  A common one with AS.
Yoga is a solitary activity, even in class, to an extent.

om namah shivaya

did I spell that correctly?

sit - chat - anand - anand is bliss, right? That's my favorite (more even so than knowledge or power).

My favorite pose is the salutation to the sun pose, done slowly not aerobically like so many misguided yoga-practioners do these days. Yoga is not aerobics. Just eat less, but do yoga friggin' right, ok? I am losing it now. Another pet peeve, sorry...

PS You need to go to India ultimately!

I like yoga, the only thing is,I usually fall asleep.
How do you keep yourselfs awake?

Correct spelling. Big Grin

Sun salutations are said to be both a later addition to yoga AND a practise which pre-dates yoga. It is hard to say.

They can be aerobic, technically, as long as you follow the breath. In ashtanga we hold the ujjayi breath which prevents hyperventiliation and generates heat. I could not say if our practise is aerobic or not, but no-one should become out of breath. That is when you cause injury and exhaust yourself.

If you do sun saluations you digestive fire increases and you might find yourself losing weight but eating more!

It could be that you are stressed out and exhausted and you need to sleep more and do more yoga.

I really like the little exposure with yoga I have had. I can't seem to keep with it though, I think I could really use a class or somewhere where I could figure out how to do everything right, and what particular things to do. Since I've had too many years of ballet, I really analyze every pose and want to know what it is supposed to stretch and do and all that. Most of the few classes I attended focused on opening up the hips, which seemed pointless to me since my hips are so loose I can't even feel the stretches that everyone else is cringing in pain over. Silly people getting in pain over a silly stretch... it doesn't work if you hurt the muscle so it wants to tense up.
I tend to sell it quite a lot, but ashtanga vinyasa yoga is popular with athletes and former dancers who have mangled themselves.
When I do yoga I just close my eyes, relax as good as I can and try hard think of nothing/listen to my breath.
