I forgot one - The Violent Femmes' American Music: "you were born too late I was born too soon but every time I look at that ugly moon it reminds me of you it reminds me of you"
After downloading it and listening to it, I am definitely going to try and get Sepultura's Desperate Cry used as a theme song for one of my characters.
I know a lot of musician Aspies who would be offended at being associated with such burgeois babies as Metallica. Their documentary is incredibly amusing when you realise that Spinal Tap is not sending them up anymore, they are Spinal Tap.
An American and I were recently discussing the possibility of crashing conferences for child welfare organisations and playing GG Allin songs at them.
Would it be that I could do that. I find that once someone, a band or whatever, does something to offend me, there is little chance of welcoming them back into my consciousness. Which makes it all the weirder that I have been able to listen to GG Allin's music. Normally, his work would have me in protest. I dunno...
As long as nobody nominates the atrocious pseudo-music from shows like Dark Angel, I think we're good.
http://ruthlessreviews.com/movies/m/meta...nster.html here is one man who puts it much better than I could. My personal favourite quote:
"Remember the St. Hibbins quip about there being a "very fine line between genius and stupid?" Well, The Great Wall of China coulnd't stop Metallica's stupid from flooding their genius. Think about it."
I know that if an organisation held up these men to represent me because I am autistic, I would protest that organisation's mere existence.
I was just thinking this morning that Scatterbrain's song Don't Call Me Dude has some awesome music that could be mistaken for the theme of an Aspie.
Varg is a goldmine to comedians seeking to lambast the ridiculousness of a musical genre/movement/whatever. Every time I read of news stories involving him, I have to laugh my butt off. How could I not, given the ridiculous ranting he presents?
A much better black metal Aspie theme song would be Opera IX's Alone In The Dark.
Black Metal is an extreme form of heavy metal, with very distorted guitar, fast drumming and screamed vocals. To most people it just sounds like noise.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_metal is a good resource for information.
Rubbish.
Many are offended by the Rubinesque "eavy metal", and with good reason. It is a product of when the mainstream media tried to turn doom metal from a cry of protest from the disenfranchised into something cuddly and bedroom wallish.
Black Metal was started in the 1980s by a Swedish man partly in order to protest the attempted Christianisation of society around him. To this end, he wrote songs of battle, war, and religious mayhem, but also great epics describing black days in Middle Ages history, rearrangements of traditional Norwegian folk music, or even new compositions that sound exactly alike to Norwegian folk. One Rode To Asa Bay, Mellom Bakkar Og Berg (roughly: Between Mountains And Hills) and Vinterskugge all stand in defiance of generalistic nonsense like this.
Even the traditional forms of Black Metal, such as DarkThrone compositions, have it all over mainstream radio. It becomes obvious in fifteen seconds that those who write it can play their instruments.
It is generally a good idea to interact with the underground bands personally before telling others about the direction of Black Metal, but it is also a good idea to remember that while Quorthon is very influential in the development of Black Metal, it has also grown beyond him to a great degree.
I expect you will find a lot of Aspie Black/Doom Metal fans because the two forms were specifically created in order to provide a voice for disenfranchisement and marginalisation.
Actually, I've communicated with a lot of underground bands. That's besides the point as you can see the various directions BM has taken by simply listening to a lot of albums. And yes, Quorthon has been HUGELY influential on Black Metal, even though he only recorded 3 BM albums, none of which contained the Viking themes you were talking about earlier. I still don't get what your major disagreement with me is, I outlined the basic musical characteristics of the genre to someone who didn't know what it was. It would have been innappropriate to then say "although, then you get into Pagan Black Metal..." and so on for depressive Black Metal, War Metal, Black Noise etc.
Haha, you're trying to say I sound like an outsider? I LOVE Black Metal, its a major obsession of mine (which the shoebox full of demotapes 7 inches to my left can attest). I had to tailor my description to someone who has no concept of what black metal is, which is hard. so please, HOW exactly is my description similar to a normie's description of Autism? Either point out examples to back up what you've said or step down.
And the fact that you consider Opera IX black metal rings serious alarm bells with me. Do you also consider Cradle of Filth to be Black Metal? Moonspell? Theatres Des Vampires?
much thanks to dimwits like Varg Vikernes and "Frost" another "BM killer"
Wasn't it Faust that killed that guy? I think Frost only has some minor convictions (possibly for Vandalism, I can't remember), which was why he couldn't tour America.
Yeah, concerts can sometimes be incredibly difficult places for aspies. Fortunately for me, I find certain loud noise (such as a band playing) very soothing.
