I thought you all would be interested in a long conversation I had with a co-worker (Debbie) just now about her recently deceased mother. To give you the context, keep in mind that she is a deeply spiritual woman, a devout Christian who is totally Bible-based. She is also a black woman, a direct descendant of the slaves that worked the area cotton/farm plantations here in SC so her belief system also incorporates that.
Anyway, she told me that at least 10 days prior to her Mom's death she (her Mom) had conversations with invisible (deceased) relatives, including a grandmother (Debbie's) and other male and female "passed" relatives. They were obviously there to see her to the "other side". Her Mom would be in another mental or conscious state during these conversations, a little out of it, one foot in the world, the other in the astral plane, I guess.
I also think Debbie mentioned hearing one of her female (deceased) relatives whistling, which was a habit of hers in life.
At one point, though, Debbie's mother told someone she wasn't ready to go! And Debbie's Mom also held off dying til one of her son's birthdays (recently). The woman had cancer, bad.
I found this all interesting because I had only heard stories of deceased relatives coming the day of passing only.
I love Debbie- she is such a sweetheart. I occasionally attend her church for the "intense" musical and prayer services-- You have not lived til you have attended a traditional black church service in the US.

A hungry ghost! That sentience which will not let go and realise the truth, "There is no spoon!", there is no self. Tell this ghost that it must let go of all wishes of becoming and non-becoming, for then it may be free in Nirbana, extinguished - but not anhilated

Sarah are you serious about this ghost thing--because I just had quite a weird and slightly disturbing experience (I thought I heard voice--I'm totally serious)
But then I suppose it is late at night here--I’m sitting on my own and just watched this very scary trailer.
