What is this called? -- greasey food on croissant dough? It can not be too healthy. I think my husband would like it.
It sounds as if it would be like pizza when you live somewhere that does not have pepperoni or mozzarella cheese.

What is toad in a hole?
I did not like cristmas-pudding.
What is a yorkshire-pudding?
Yorkshire pudding and cristmas-pudding did not seem to have much in common.
How ever we use eggs, sugar, milk and flour for pancakes in this country.

Toad in the hole is sausage in a pastry casing - maybe like a sausage roll only bigger.
A similar dish is "pigs in blankets" - where you cook sausages and get a piece of buttered bread for each one. You lay the sausage crossways on the bread and cover it with anything you like eg. fried onions, tomato or barbecue sauce, mustard, cheese, and then bring up two of the edges together to wrap the sausage up in bread.
Then you hold it in the middle and start eating.
I'm not quite sure what goes into yorkshire pudding but I think it is savoury.
We don't get pastry in tins here but I wonder if those round gow gee Chinese pastry pieces could be used in place of crescent pastries?

Yorkshire pudding is a kind of batter cooked in a wide flat roasting pan in a hot oven. If you put a row of sausages in before cooking, then you have 'toad in the hole'. Cheap, easy and therefore a favourite of school dinner canteens.
