For those gamers among us, may I hear what is so darned good about these games?  Which is your favorite of the series and is it ALWAYS a case of "the multiplayer is incredible; the single player is just mediocre" ?

If the multiplayer is this game's best innovation--surely there is much innovation in the Halo series, seeing as "best FPS of all time" is the common saying--then I'll probably be missing the point.  I'm a single-player kind of person.
The game can get very fast paced if you know what you're doing Tongue

Covenant forces tend to drop like flies in Halo 1 and 2, as for 3 who knows...

who the hell even cares.. ;p
I don't know anything about the games, but my eldest has the first two, and the twins were setttling down to play the third when I left them at a local church youth group earlier for a 24 hour game-in (if that's what you call it?)

I'll have to ask them about it!

I liked the single player in Halo 1 it had a good flow... I haven't bothered with Halo 2 or halo 3... I heard Halo 2 was crap, and Halo 3 will probably be just a little better then Halo 1 or maybe a little worse.

I'm a hardcore gamer and I've played games like halo way before halo even game out... halo is NOTHING compared to what they got on the PC.

So what is a HALO anyway?
A PC and X-Box game, or was it playstation?
Anyway, I've played the trial of the first PC game by downloading it at http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc - All those with a red "mark" has a downloadable trial.
Now I do remember that I have played flight-similator back in the days.
High Altitude something something (lol, military acronym I can't remember)

Thing Angels/Saints come with as standard issue

and, well this game Tongue
Yeah thinking mans alright..I've had some scrapes on HL2.

Run and Gun it is not Tongue  I nearly got ambushed by a Headcrab zombie lurking under this ledge in some building (yesterday I believe ;p) luckily I saw it first...somehow the patches of blood, sound of flies and random corpse at the bottom of the ledge told me that something was afoot Tongue

Ian
Can't remember a turret mate, but either way...I do like how the game makes you look and think ;p

god the scenery in that game depresses me, I know a website that has all pics of inside a (yeah some tit actually went in and took pictures) abandoned psychiatric hospital (in the uk) and it looked just like the old section of Nova Prospekt.
Halo is one of the greatest games of all time!! The only thing that microsoft did wrong was limiting the new game to xbox. They could have made sooooo much more money if they had opened it to PC users. Halo 3 would have convinced me to get Vista, even if I couldnt be bothered for Halo 2.
Half-Life 2, for the record, is undeniably superior in terms of single-player mode.

I'm just looking to see "what all the fuss is about" right now, I am playing the first Halo currently and I'll say the single-player is pretty good thus far.
one thing i really hate about halo though,is that you HAVE to leeroy (run and gun) if you try and play it "properly",you'll end up dying again and again.

and Legendary,to paraphrase Penny Arcade,is a chore.
Me Leeroying Halo on easy mode is quite amusing tbh Tongue

I end up resorting to charging the enemy and clubbing them with my assault rifle.
