Yes I drew this... This is what made me reject christianity, I just can't respect a god, nor son of god that claims demons exist and do this kind of silly stuff... Just imagine this scenario in the modern world and you have your answer!! Smile

Not to worry Soulsick, God loves you anyway.

Oh tenacious, you are too cute!

Not to worry Erkolos, God can handle it... his followers too , although some do unfortunately have a bit more difficulty with the criticism I suppose. If I measured God strictly by what is written in the Bible I'd probably have a bit of trouble with him myself. Personnally I prefer to see him in my niece's new baby and the beauty of the day rather than in what man has written of him.  Man is fallible, after all.

Which god loves me?  There are so many, how do you know which god is the right one?

Yes. This is why the 'oppressor class" hates the internet and wants to crush it through corporatist control.

I'm curious -how do you define 'oppressor class' Max?

Anything that he wants, that other people disagree with Wink

Actually, all monotheistic religions have the same God. Names are different, but the "description" and "role" of God is everywhere the same.

Actually no, all monotheistic gods have MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE CHARACTERISTICS.

The all can't be right.

They could according to Answers in Genesis, a website that proclaims that everything in the bible is meant to be taken literally. They think the Earth is 6,000 years old and a "global flood" covered even the highest mountain ranges. They even think that Noah brought two of every kind of dinosaur (!) onto the ark.

My understanding was that the New Testament superseded the old and that the old testament is now simply a historical document which is not to be taken literally.

Then you've never actually studied the bible for yourself.

Jesus's whole theology rests on him being the promised messiah of the old testament prophets, the whole of christianity doesn't make sense if adam, moses, noah, etc were not real people, as jesus refers to them as historical in the absolute sense.

I'm sure someone just registered as a sock puppet to post that. But to what end, who knows?

Creasy

So the stories about Jesus and the miracles he performed are fictional then?

Creasy

Oh, and what about the Heaven and Hell stuff, is that fictional too?

Creasy

Who said anything about you being the sock puppet?

It could have been anyone.

Creasy

It all sounds a bit wishy washy to me QD.

Here's an interesting post I came across on another site.

...But not all propositions are created equal. It is indeed true that some cannot really be disproven - for example, the claim "a black swan exists" cannot be disproven. To do so would require examining every spot in the universe to make sure that such a swan did not exist, and that simply isn't possible...

I have searched every spot in the universe for you (well, Adelaide, actually) and here is a Black Swan.

My family and I have fed flocks of them on the River Torrens.

Now, let's see if I can find a picture of God as easily.

If I said I found God in Adelaide, that presumably would not be as good a proof as the assertion that there are Black Swans aplenty there?

Yeah. I was aware of that error to, but everything else he said was on the money.

Creasy

Actually. He said it can't be disproven. Not proven.

Creasy

Bottom line. You can't prove that something doesn't exist and the onus is on those who claim it does to do so.

There. I'm done.

Creasy

But then it realigned its view when new evidence disproving the previous theory came to hand. It's a pity religion doesn't do that.

Creasy

Now. I'm done.
