I find this show interesting, though I usually can't take too much of it (the girls usually drive me up a wall)  but this season I may be watching it a bit more because they have added a twist I've been wanting to see for a while.

Instead of all boy geeks, there is actually going to be a GIRL geek - and instead of all girl bimbos, there's actually going to be a BOY bimbo.

I can't wait to see the dynamics...  usually the contestants on both sides do seem to gain a lot of confidence and are not afraid to try new things or do what they thought they weren't able to.  But I wonder how much of that has to do with not having competition of the opposite sex who is good at what you aren't.

I can see this going very badly though...
Is this a TV show?

What is the format?
It's a reality tv show.

They get 10 geeky men and 10 beautiful women (all in 20's) and pair them up boy girl. Then they put them through a series of tests where the boys must learn to be more socially aware and stylish and the girls must study and learn things like how to set up a computer or the like.

Then the winners of the competition gets to select two other pairs who then compete against each other, answering questions on the things they were supposed to learn that week.

But the best part is not the competitions but the relationships that develop when these people who wouldn't normally know how to talk to each other are FORCED to interact.

What usually ends up happening is that the guys realize that they CAN talk to beautiful girls, and that the beautiful girls have a lot of insecurities and fears and are just people and they gain confidence that they do in fact have something to offer to 'the other gender'.  The girls start to realize that superficially judging the guys makes them miss out on some really amazing people and they start to gain confidence that they don't have to rely on their looks, and that 'stupid' is not an option they have to choose.

Heh. Yes it might be interesting to see wich of these 'hansom' boys don't act rude or shun the 'ugly' girl like too many egoed men in the real world tend to do. I mean egoed men, not normal men.

Yeah, God forbid someone should go against the status quo, and dare to suggest women also desire good looking mates. Right? Cause what right do women have to show preference for anything?

I tried watching this show a few seasons back but found the ladies too horrid and felt really bad for the guys.  I think I saw one episode where they brought in a "stud" to compete with the "geeks" and it was just stomach wrenching.

If this season is better I may give it a go.
Violet Yoshi, but, don't women do end up preferring guys for looks?

Evolutionary theory is on my side here.......   think about it..... the woman is going to expend all the energy to bring a lifeform to birth, at considerable expenditure of energy, and depending on where she lives, at least some risk to her life and safety, and depending on where she lives, half or more of raising that child until one of them dies or the child grows up.

She has a lot at stake here, so you're not going to tell me any guy's contribution is as good as another's?

Probably makes some social sense (the human-made jungle we call society) to target wealth, especially as wealth tends to distort justice, really open doors more than it should, but even in a fair world unlimited resources would guarantee all the resources (food, medical, education) to set that kid right to survive in the jungle called society.

Now, given that there are a lot more ladies than rich or even halfway successful guys, maybe 10 years of uninterrupted career growth should be attractive to a femme.

It works both ways too.  If the guy is intelligent, he knows he is as mortal as she is, and if either of them kick it, he wants to know the household can still fly.

In the mid-1930s the Army Air Corps figured out that a bomber should be able to fly on one engine.  Makes perfect sense: If an engine goes, you want to get home, right, not bail out into enemy territory.

One income household = F-16 single engine fighter
Two income household = F-15, F-14, F-18, more likely to make it back on one if it has to (Top Gun, Cougar has to shut down left engine).  The A-10 Thunderbolt has its two engines far apart, for added protection.

She's probably looking for looks too, some would say health.
Weight loss is hard, it can require a partner.  We can get so angry or hurt we go to McDonalds to relieve what we feel.  I have only tried crying myself to sleep a few times instead.
Stomach wrenching, I have never watched a Survivor episode, ever.  We know what it is about. Bye bye misfit.  Hits too close to home for us.
How precisely are they going to define a girl "geek"?

Ugly?  Intelligent?  Both?

I'd bet on both....or at least intelligent with glasses and non-fashion-slave clothes.  (The stereotype of female nerdiness established in 80s sitcoms.)

Gah.
