Sounds like you meet ALOT of autistics daily.
Meh I trust NT's.

Got to in my profession ;p

Ethel

I am the only autistic person I know in real life...

Can you "not trust" most of the population just on the basis of their neuro wiring?  That makes no more sense than not trusting autistic people.

And, again -- some good ol' common sense from Ethel. Thank you.

How many "I hate NT" threads do we have going now?

It is kind of necessary, you know, you work with 300 or 400 other co-workers in the region, the vast majority are going to be NTs by statistical probability.
Businessman ;p

So what is that?

I'm Aspie. I trust EVERYONE. Which is obviously silly as I have come to grief once or twice but, funnily, not nearly as often as you might think seeing as I drove a taxi for nearly ten years. Most people, faced with honest trust, want to live up to the expectation.
You guys trust me don'tcha ;p

In fairness she asked a question, and never mentioned a dislike. Trust can often be easier with someone who is like oneself, I think all cultures are the same in that regard.

Ethel

I know some sneaky Aspies, too.  And plenty of apparently NT people who're not particularly dishonest.  This is exactly what I mean - you can't classify people just by their neuro wiring.   That's no different from making assumptions about people because they're on the spectrum.

Well, I see your point, but I hate NT ignorance.

That's funny, because it's such an ignorant statement.

Ethel

If you don't like ignorance: educate people.

Ignorance give me the major irrits, too - anybody who lives and breathes something would hate to hear ill-informed comment about it from outsiders.  But ranting and raving and declaring the neurotypical majority "the enemy" is hardly going to stop them being ignorant, is it?  It isn't going to put anybody in a receptive state of mind to hear what you have to say.

My modus operandi at the moment is to just live my own life and deal with individual cases of ignorance - with me it's usually "you can't be autistic because you can talk!" - as they arise.  I don't have the energy to change the world right now. Smile

I think that being exclusionary and trusting only autistic over non-autistic is as insane as trusting whites over blacks or rich over poor or straight people over gay people or visa versa on all accounts. It is not a matter of trusting people like oneself because by this same assessment we can pigeonhole ourselves so tightly that we only trust White, Straight, Working-class, Agnostic, Middle-aged, Autistic, Country, Australian, males..........Believe me I could find compelling reasons (no less illogical to any reason the OP posed why each of these classifications ought to stand on their own merits) why this pigeonholing could "allow" me not to trust pretty much anyone.
People are people. They are good, bad, indifferent, trustworthy or not. Painting 99% of the population with the smear of "untrustworthy" is not very rational, logical or clever.
No doubt you will get let down by some NT's. No doubt some will take advantage of you. No doubt you will be embarrsassed and humiliated by some NT's. Many won't understand you.
That's life. To say "I don't trust NT's" That is weird to me.

Hear, hear!

"I don't trust those ____'s" has been the most brainless and elementary concept in the Bigot's Rule Book since the Neanderthals stopped inviting the Cro-magnons to their poker parties. It's a crude, ignorant stance that shows a complete lack of understanding of how the dynamics of oppression actually work.

It ill-behooves the self-appointed Leader of the Spectrum Revolution to be operating on the level of philosophical thought best identified with the lowest rank and file of the KKK.

Yeah, even though I'm hopeless at initiating conversations, I am happy to talk to anybody who treats me like a human being and it doesn't matter what category they fall in.
