The below CNN video clip on Barack Obama's (spelling?) name and it just totally, totally, made me roll my eyes at the "lowered value/status by associative similarity",  oh no someone might confuse (or associate) obama with "Osama" (as in bin laden) and his middle name (hussein) with Sadam hussein!! oh noes!!

Man sometimes the NT world just makes me want to hurl, it makes all the good NT's look bad.

Most people concern themselves only with there daily life. Apathy like that is dangerous, but I don't think there's anyway way to stop it.

Sad.
Forgot. A large majority of people think of politics the way one would think of a football game. They support parties for no logical reason, instead because it's the "team there rooting for". No one really cares if people are dieing.

I found the story humorous, but then I'm NT. Mom
The line about people being too apathetic is what turns a lot of people off to politics.  They think they have to be some kind of special elite person to even participate.  I am highly interested in politics but cannot hold most kinds of political discussions that people like having, so I don't participate in those discussions despite following some aspects of politics rather avidly.  A lot of people are exhausted and have no time to study anything by the end of the day.  And people are driven away from politics by the barriers that currently prevent the average person these days from participating.  One of which is the idea that people are just apathetic, "sheeple", or don't care about dying people, etc.  If you talk about people that way, what incentive do the people you're talking about have to listen?

With regard to NTs, I am also baffled by this thread.  Stupidity isn't determined by neurotype.

Actually you're wrong because "stupidity" is a broad, broad label.  We're talking about general TRAITS, most people have issues with "damnation by association effects" or by similarity, even smart people.  You can see this in Idealogical arguments and politics all the time.  Many neurotypicals DO do the very things we are posting, even the "bright" ones.  They'll just do it in a more sophisticated way using more sophisticated bullshitting language.

But you have a good point none-the-less.  Sadly, if this is true, then if autistics rely on themselves to interact with this political minefield, they will be doomed to failure, because it's just not a game they understand how to play or have any interest in playing.

That's my impression too... and personally, it genuinely is a lack of interest on my part.  I'm guilty of political apathy, among many other forms of apathy.

I think you hate yourself too much. You probably like it.

You like to victimize yourself. That's the root of your problem.

Career politicians in the big offices spend so much time trying to figure out how to make their opponents look like fools or villains that it's no wonder they have no time to figure out practical, intelligent and compassionate ways to solve the countries problems.

And soooo much of this is due to the nightmarish nature of The Endless Campaign for election, re-election, re-re-election and the obscene amounts of money it takes to wage a campaign. Who can supply that much money? Only filthy corporatist interests and their lobbyists who donate money in return for political influence.

That's also where the corrupting power is primarily concentrated, AgentPalpatine, and it flows in toxic rivers down to the rest of us.

Darn right! And what really annoys me is how they hold back so much of our taxes for their campaigns when it could be used to improve our medical system, school system and social security and disability services. Btw, Australia is due for a Feral election later this year.

Oh I have a great stupid NTism! Not being ignorant, bigoted and share the same perspective of the world as the OP! Oh wait a moment that is everyone else in the world but the OP. Sorry...............continue
Ah, I'm not sure I quite follow that line of reasoning. As Pauline Hanson would say "please explain?"

I was being sarcastic. The Original Poster is dissing 99% of the population by posting this thread which stings of "Aspie Elitism". The OP is different to me and you and his/her perception of the world and of NT's is all the things I described in my post.
Well, that's who one of them is but there's another one who is considerably younger and believes uneducated and disabled people are less worthy of respect.
Ian, I wasn't talking of you when I made my earlier comment but the person I was speaking of seems to have pulled her horns in over the past day or so.
