Kids are growing up without boundaries. Or with boundaries they do not respect.
They're taught by lowest-common denominator television.
They learn social interaction from video games and skate punk videos. They want to shock. Think of it as a sort of outward stimming. But they do it in groupthink form - all the poor widdle 'burban misunderstood kids wandering around wearing black with chunks of metal in their faces and scars on their wrists...
Too bad none of the victims had a handy shotgun.

I wrote a mental movie in June 1990 about two gay refugees coming to Marshland, and how terrible their Christian country was. Paradise Found I think I called it.
That same thrilling scene when the police officer points an automatic pistol at the helo landing on the embassy roof and a Marine weapon target designator shining on his badge.
OK, it was personally motivated, I had a grudge back then, but I know what malice is, and I never felt any toward gays.
In fact my dad feared Christians, so if we had been a country, you can damn well bet it would have been safe for gays to live. (He wrote me a letter trying to talk me out of it when I turned 20)
Also remember my parents did nothing to indoctrinate me at all, let me choose, even brought me to church a little when I was 12.

Hate crimes have always happened, be it for ( alleged ) religious reasons, territorial,
race or whatever.
Personally I don't believe it will ever stop.
Here in the UK, there have recently been a spate of what are called 'honour murders', by some members of the muslim community............. ( hate murders by another name ).
The hate doesn't have to be against another race or religion, it often happens to people of the same race / religion or whatever, because one of 'their own' has spoken out against these crimes.
What is a fascist as you mean to use it?

Hate crimes make me very sad and very scared. I can't really say anything that hasn't been said a hundred times before, but there really is no way to make it better other than to forgive and try to reach out to others. I know that would be much harder to say if I or someone I love had been the victim of a crime like this, but...

And you were right... For some reason SoulSick seems to have gotten appartheid mixed up with the American Civil Rights Movement.
I always get the names of concepts blurred together... so I understand the confusion.
