I do. In fact I have actually had people ask me if I am and it really pisses me off.

No, never. I am just considered different!

yes all the time, and it pisses me off because im smarter than all those *******.

They don't tell it to my face, but I can tell by the way they talk to me and how they posistion themselves when they are talking to me. Im VERY receptive to these things, and it's very hurtful.
Ditsy sometimes, yes, ***, no.
Not so much nowadays but when I grew up my older brother always went on about what an idiot I was. He was/is somewhat of a bully joking about people around him but basically clueless as to what it means to others in terms of hurt...
The first time (I remember) that someone asked me if I was ***, I was eight. And they were nine, I think...

Did you manage to answer him back quickly with a sharp comment that he deserved?
That was my big problem...

Usually no talk backs on my part.

People have said this to me. And I think I am a bit anyway. I have some learning difficulties, so maybe they were right.
I've never been thought to be ***, but I've often been told I have "no common sense," and sometimes people do lose patience with my slow learning of new skills and become snappish or condescending in the way they talk to me.  In my case, people seem to attribute the ditziness to my very protective middle-class upbringing (at least once at my blue-collar workplace I have been referred to as a "little rich girl," which is hilariously off-base), and to the fact that I take psychiatric medication (for ADD) and go to therapy and am therefore "nutty."   (I think, for all my quirks, I am healthier than certain others at work who could use help with their issues!)

I'm friends with two brothers who have autism spectrum conditions. They have learning difficulties but are very intelligent. Some people said they were unintelligent because they struggled with school work but they didn't realise that there are other forms of intelligence than simply being good at school.

NTs also struggle with schoolwork.  This is a moot point and has nothing to do with lack of intelligence.

See, I never thought they were lacking in intelligence but many of their teachers and peers did and gave them a hard time.

Saying that someone was *** was the #2 insult at my elementary and junior high schools, just under the #1 insult of being gay. Whenever someone called me either, I would say, "No, but why are you saying it like it's an insult?" I was always very confused when they called me ***, considering I had the reputation of being a genius as well, but I always felt there was truth in their saying, since I did have a lot of troubles with what are considered basic tasks, especially when I was younger. (Although, I think the latter perception caused me more trouble than the former, as school personnel would become furious at me for not understanding 'simple' instructions and cite my high grades and test scores as proof that I must be "playing games".)

Does she think you should spray air freshener or something? At least opening the door ventilates the place.
No I never think that but I used to get asked if I'm retartded or not.

Wow, it's so funny what the topic has changed into! Big Grin

...@current topic: when i was little, we had such an old an really noisy flush an the whole conduit quaked like a monster! That was scary! And i also always forgot to close the door.

@other topic:
Some people think i only understand them talking like opposite a little child, so they talk slowly in a soft voice and short sentences. Confusing. i wonder what i am doing to cause this behavior.
(maybe my expression is full of confusing mistakes, so sorry for that)
