I have heard that the test for AS often beggins with an IQ test. I think I might have had a Theory of Mind test where I was told a story from one person's point of view and answered questions of what I thought about the things the person told about, but I am not sure if it was a Theory of Mind test.

Could someone from UK help Weebo out here a bit?
In my case I took a test on the computer and did diagnostic interviews with a psychologist. Can't answer for any other location/person.

I live in the UK. I attended a 2 1/2 hour assessment with my mother at CLASS in Cambridge in July this year. It was simply an interview between the Doctor, my mother and myself, covering aspects of my personal and social development. No IQ tests or any other kind of tests. At the end of the interview she told me I had AS and later sent me a very detailed transcript of the assessment.

It differs depending on who you see; each diagnostician is likely to have their own way of assessing because there's no standard assessment method (unfortunately). Some may use tests such as IQ testing, some may use other tests more specifically "autism" geared-- or a combination of the two--, others may have questionnaires, and still others may just prefer to do an interview-style assessment.
Unfortunately, there's no simple answer to tell you exactly what to expect in an ASC assessment. But there's certainly a small list of things you're more likely to come across, such as what I've already mentioned. I hope the info helps.

I hope there's no IQ tests; I always suck at those tests cuz I am hopeless at maths. But my mum thinks I should get tested so I can get additional support.

Hi,
I was assessed at CLASS too.
I was sent a rerferral pack first, with questionnaires to fill in for myself and someone who had known me as a child (in my case, my mum).
On the day I went with my DH and my mum for a 3 hour assessment. The consultant asked my mum and me a lot of questions about my childhood which was the first two hours. Then she went out and he talked more to me and my DH for the last hour or so.
He ended the assessment by telling me that I did have AS.
Should add that I have an adult son with a dx of AS, and my dad was identified with 'mild autism' at the end of his life (we were all sure he had AS).
