I meant, when they try patronising you, point to or mention another person of your age who they don't patronise and say 'you treat this person like an equal, why do you treat me like a child?'

Maybe I wasn't clear. Sorry.

I was having an after school review with my class teacher once, and one of us mentioned my friend, who was twelve at the time and has autism and learning difficulties. My class teacher  took my friend for art on a certain day before lunch, and she knew he waited outside the classroom to meet me.
She didn't phrase it like that. She said 'He always waits for you. It's so sweet."
Fortunately it got sorted without to much fuss. I corrected her, and she agreed that it hadn't been the best thing to say.

I had a teacher last year who took over from my ill science teacher at the end of the year, and after I had a meltdown in class he treated me like the most delicate person in the world. It was worst when he covered a French lesson.
Here are some things he said.
"You're always good, aren't you Planet*Louise?' (I'm thirteen- to old to be 'good' really)
When I made a joke and he didn't get it until I told him: 'Oh! A joke! That's OK, we like jokes.' (said as if me telling a joke was a huge milestone.)
'You must always tell someone if there's something wrong.' (Perfectly logical, but there was nothing wrong at the time.)

A woman I know for some time now spoke to me slooooowly,veeeery clear and kept starring me in the eyes...
Like as if I was a little kid or something.
I HATE IT!!!!!!!
I felt as if she spoke as if she was a "I know it all, you big looser, and now Ill tell you what to believe !"
it made me totaly loose consentration....
I felt so low after that...
