if anybody comes up to you and tells you there is something weird or stupid about you or even calls you a bitch, does that mean it's true?

NO WAY!

it means they are limited in their own minds to look beyond behavior or looks.

if anybody hates you it tells you somethings about that person instead of thinking it is about you.

But maybe I really am a bitch Cool

"...as a great philosopher once said...You ain't nothing but a hound dog!" - Elvis Presley as he introduced "Hound Dog" at his concerts in the 1950's and 1961.

Hi,

Was just pottering about on the internet and found the comments at the end of this post:

and I also found this blog:

Why do people hate us so much?
I don't understand Sad

We're different, but its largely because autistic people have a tendency not to conform. Wasn't there this study that shown that people with autism are more likely to be GLBT?

It's human nature to hate what is different than ourselves.

What!! You don't believe in fairies...
Well, I'm shocked...

There's much to be learnt from fairytales.
Actually, I think atheism is more likely to keep the peasants in line; faith can move mountains where as doubt maintains the status quo.

How exactly would Atheism keep the peasants in line? What great promises does Atheism offer? That when you die there's nothing for you whether or not you were a "good" or a "bad" person, that all that awaits you is oblivion? I'm really not sure how that's going to motivate people to obey some king, priest, pastor, imam, lama, or rabbi. Perhaps, instead, not believing in an eternal reward and or punishment would instead motivate people to treasure this life and do their best to make it better, to improve their standard of living, to tackle inequality, to promote our understanding of the universe, to enjoy life. Maybe your faith can move mountains, but while you sit there before the mountain, strong in your faith, we'll be digging away at it with something a little bit more substantial.

Ok, I think we got the point.  You can stop doing that and wait for replies now.
Well... normally you would type what you want to say in the box before hitting the reply button, and you really shouldn't reply with a quote of what you just said a few minutes ago.  Also, consecutive posts are considered impolite on most forums; though less so here since we're unable to edit our posts.

When the snarling dog charges me, I don't need to try to "understand", it I NEED TO DEFEND MYSELF!  I'll worry about pretty-fairy-tale world things like "understanding" people who want to destroy me once I am safe from them--BY WHATEVER MEANS ARE NECESSARY.

You can't safeguard yourself against a "threat" you know nothing about. Understanding is the first step to a well-organized society. NT people are no more dangerous than autistic people.

I agreee vehemently, understanding...

I also agree strongly with Dogbrain that when something physical is coming at you your instincts NEED TO kick in .  However I think that they will, I tend to think that the limbic system (of at least My aspie son) fight or flight is MUCH stronger than the thinking (think or blink)frontal cortex - as a matter a fact I highly doubt my son will NOT defend himsrlf from physical threat as he is Hyper aware of all threats - real or perceived... I think my young son tneds towards over-protecting - that is why the specifics need to be explained.

Who is this quote from?????

: Quote:
If you add this to the fact that many Aspies went through hell in high school for no other reason but not having the necessary social instincts to survive in that jungle, it's quite easy to start hating NTs and becoming so arrogant that you won't even listen to their arguments. I understand that such individuals might frighten you, but you have to understand that it can take quite an effort not to become like that after you've been treated like s*** for years by shallow and prejudiced NTs. I consider myself a very sociable and mentally stable person, but during my last years in high school I was at the virge of snapping. I don't know what I would have been capable of if I actually had snapped.
*********************************
I think that whoever that quote was from, I would be very thankful if you would answer the poll question to mainstream or not to mainstream - Your input would be invaluable as -every word you said is or will be applicable to my son - if we as his parents do not intervene appropriately... need input.

Illusion I don;t think that 100 geniuses would be better then 20 morons - I think that the larger the group all the worse.  Group-think is an epedemic.  Just a minor opinion... poorly expressed to be sure.

Thank God for that, then, now maybe we can get on with discussing the topic at hand without endless sidetracking and semantic argument caused by going out of your way to find something in my comments you can disagree with.

Re: the term nutters.  I am an Aspie.  I am blunt, honest and often tactless.  I call things as I find them.  And I consider writing off all neurotypical people as "stupid", "shallow", or any other sweeping generalisation, to be worthy of the term.

Thank you for not writing me off...I like you Smile

I think that lumping people into categories based on their skin color, their place of birth, the way their mind functions, is always dangerous.  No one person can fit every mold.  Thank goodness!

Then again, what the heck do I know, I am a fat, white trash, okie, pagan, witch, ugly, poor, woman...

Aye, people these days are brought up from the beginning to think in nothing but groups, categories, and generalizations.

Christian/Islam/Jewish/Atheist/Agnostic/Democratic/Republican/Independent/Liberal/Conservative/Smart/Dumb/Sexy/Ugly/White/Black/Asian/Hispanic/Rich/Poor/etc.

No one ever refers to someone as just a person anymore.

can I just type (for fun - only in jest) I am an antidisestablishmentarian non-conformist supposed nuerotypical mother to three nuero-diverse children and atypical tendencies and hope that no one will pick that statement apart?

I don't hate anyone.

Guess who - that was horrible I read that whole thing and was not pleased that I did.

Actually, I was going to let this slide, but it's really getting to me, so I'm not going to bottle it up any more:

I'm really pissed off that I'm the one being accused of judging people, because I described the lunatic fringe Aspie Supremists as "nutters", while said Supremacists are allowed to spew forth all sorts of nonsense and if anyone calls them on it, they're the one that gets attacked.

Ethel, I didn't see it, I sure hope you weren't attacked - I thought I was following the thread closely.  MAybe you  misread and someone was agreeing with you and being sarcastic at the same time.  anyway, if you've no wish to re-hash the offender, I just wanted to say, you are most righteous in your indignation if you were in fact accused of being judgemental. I should say most certainly you aren't!

Mine too, weird.

Um, there is no scientific evidence that if an autistic person has food intolerances simply because s/he is autistic.

Well I do not know if I would call them "food intolerances" but I can tell you that MOST of the Aspies/Spectrum people that I talk to have very particular dietary wants and needs.  I think the scientific evidence thing is neat, but when sitting down to eat with my two Aspies and noting their particularities with food, I think that they eat a very specific diet and that it apparently helps them, as they can consume it rather than spit it back out.
