Damn! Didn't think of it that way. I was thinking of all the folks who have never heard of AS before they read about Nowak. Now I realize this situation is even worse considering how first impressions have profound impacts on people's opinions.
Now the pejorative term space cadet is going to take on a more literal meaning?

But really, you are right, they are trying anything to explain her behavior -why not blame it on a bad hair day! Makes more sense to me than her having AS- there is nothing in her history, apparantly, to support this. I doubt if they will be able to use the insanity plea as it seems she planned this quite well, knew what she was doing, and had tons of time to think about it( and change her mind) while driving.... I think maybe she was just INSANEly jealous.
What sucks about this is that the next time an Aspie succeeds at becoming an astronaut (or cosmonaut, or space tourist, or whatever), this is going to get brought up by the trash-loving media, whether it's next week or twenty years from now. (That's a shame, because someone who's systemized, routine-loving, and tolerant of isolation would probably be pretty good at it.)

Wikipedia, and actually Lisa Nowak denied the allegation. Astronauts frequently wear diapers like during re-entry because it isn't a good time for a break.
Wonder what Francis Gary Powers did on those long U-2 flights? I know they still fly those.
Next time I have to drive an awful long way I might consider some.

In my opinion Lisa Nowak deserves whatever the court gives her. If she is the subject of some harsh treatment and judgement on this site, then yes, you can call it bad.
But again, in my opinion, this "lady", a Navy Captain, which is a pretty high officer rank, is trying to pull some pity party, dollar funded Scam to try and save herself from doing the right thing and admitting that she knew what she was doing, and serving whatever prison sentence is appropriate for her Crimes.

Still, if Lisa did indeed chase down some woman in the heat of passion Lisa was wrong. Clearly a hypothetical male Aspie who is bitter over being invisible and engages in a sexual assault is guilty and the deed makes him guilty. Lisa seems to be another embittered romantic herself and she crossed a line: adultery, stalking, assault with pepper spray.
If the facts are true Lisa deserves a sentence for stalking and assault and a court martial for conduct unbecoming.
Probably cheaper to get a plastic bottle to pee in.
