Today my boss introduced me to a technical representitive that I was going to get some training from by smiling and saying "This is Mary, our under-genius". Since he is promoting me to a higher administrative position soon, at first I took it to mean something like "understudy" or genius-in-training, and took it as a compliment. I can't find any such phrase in google though. Was it a compliment or was he saying I was less than smart??
Is it possible that you misheard the word "uber-genius", or something similar? (As is uber=ultimate). I've never heard of an under-genius before either...
oh, I had not considered the word "uber". It is quite possible I didn't hear it right
Silky, could he have said
Number genius??
In any case, I think he was giving you a compliment.

Whew. Thank you. An insult didn't seem to fit the situation but... really who else could I have asked about what it meant? (blush) Thank you for your thoughts
