I recently read an article on the Judge Rotenberg Center, and the torture of the children that attend there, many of whom are on the spectrum.  To check the article out, go to http://www.motherjones.com and search for 'School of Shock'.  What I read there disgusted and horrified me.

I had read in one blog that Aspies for Freedom were involved in getting this school shut down.  Are there any petitions going around to send to the legislators?  I am currently trying to find out who the appropriate person to send letters and petitions to would be.  When I find it I intend to post this on every website and forum I can find.

Would anyone here be interested in writing a letter and signing a petition to let the government know that torturing someone because they are on the spectrum isn't going to fly in this country?

well now,welcome to AFF Tongue

what would "this country" be?

The United States.  Sorry, I didn't think about the international community when I wrote the post. The internet makes the world a closer place.

For those that live in the United States, here are the following websites that will give contact information to senators and representatives.  Also, the torture school is located in Canton, Massachutsetts.

To contact Massachutsetts senators and representatives:

To find contact information for those who live in other states:

Aside from this, you can contact local advocacy groups and alert them to this issue.  I’m already contacting other groups about this issue.

Letter writing and petitioning en masse will let legislators know that people are irate about this issue.  If we can get local advocacy groups to spread the word about this torture more people will get involved.  Who knows, maybe even a protest in Canton will come from it.  If we do nothing, then nothing will happen.  At least if we do something, even something as simple as writing a letter or posting information on another forum to try to get more people involved then there is a chance that it will make a difference.
D8.... As if the things going on at this gulag school weren't bad enough, reading some of the comments on the YouTube page for the JRC and that blog have made my faith in humanity plummet just that much more.  People are sick, both for causing abuse and standing by while justifying it as necessary.  One day, when I become a lawyer, I want to aid in shutting this place down for good and stopping this stuff from happening.

a Noble sentiment.
how far are you from qualifying?

^^; Actually, I'm just going to be applying to law school and taking my LSATs this summer.  If someone shuts the place down before I get to it, all the better for the people who have to go through this hell, there's still a lot of issues that face autistics, Aspies and the disabled community in general that have to be addressed.  It is something to work towards, though.
