When comparing AFF to other autism forums I see that there are fewer peopel who have posts above thousand at AFF.
I don't know about WP but at the norwegian board (BB) they devolop often more thight relationships with eachother. Some youths get into relationships there. BB also has parents who feel fully welcome, maybe that's because there's about a fifty-fifty ratio of dxed and parents. The forum is either not exclusivily for autistics, people with ADD is welcomed aswell as people with tourette, dyslexia and bipolar. I can tell that the atmosphere at BB is less tense than the one I've noticed at AFF lately.
I am not sure, but before christmas after the site's layout had been upgraded there had been a real boost in new posts and frequent posters. Three members got alot of attention at that time, that was Ian, Meiloyn and Bob Bobson, who was a really cool group that I'd say made the atmosphere significantly less tense at AFF after a droopy incident. Ian was the one who wanted to be an evil dictator, Meiloyn was the one who had a crush on Wojciech but never really asked him (though the story have developed further) and Bob was simply really nice to everyone.
Another explanation that I've seen on BB is that there are simply less posts during the summer holiday, and people will "find refuge" at the board when the everyday gets harder. But I still wonder exactly why AFF's posts consists of a such a high ratio of members who have few posts.

Well one thing is for sure: drama, tension, and plain old jerks are big turn offs to me when I am in a forum. They make me less likely to post often. And their has been some recent tension here, if I am not mistaken.
Also, it could be because of the wide variety of sections of this message board (most of which are rarely being posted in anyway). It personally bugs me when there are 30 different boards and only ten of them are being posted in. It makes the forums look inactive, even thought we aren't. An example of what might help can be found here:
http://societyofdisturbedsouls.jconserv.net. Notice how there are only 15 boards, and most of them have post within the last week. I go to that forum everyday and chit chat all the time because its not so roomy (and its not that crowded either

). Its a comfortable forum.

Forgot to mention that this forum was made by fanclub members of one of my favorite bands. So it could attract me because it is what I am interested in. Maybe we need to work on getting people interested into this forum

This site is kind of weird, I mean "aspies for freedom"? While I've had difficulties in the world socially I don't find myself "oppressed" by others so much as having had a rough time understanding others while growing up, the older I grow the clearer human beings become and the more satisfied I am with my answers and personal growth.
And the whole pro-autistic rights movement, where people tend to focus on the nutcases or fringes of the NT world. When you know you can't really change the NT world.
Human beings are animals and I don't expect them to act any differently then according to their own instincts.
I don't think it's bad that the want to cure autism, nor do I think it is an easy question to determine "what life matters and what life doesn't"
human beings have to make hard decisions every-day that have no right answer because we live in an impossible time in universe where we do not have power over nature or human development.
I feel pretty much the same as SoulSick... I don't feel opressed or like I am having my rights violated either, but I like posting here because for the first time in my life there are actually people I can talk to who have been through the same things I have and see the world in a similar way (if only slightly). I used to post at WrongPlanet as well, but I stopped because it was very intimidating to me... There were like 5000 posts made every day (so I couldn't check all the new threads, which was extremely frustrating), and some of the people there seemed psychotic or just plain rude, moreso than what I have experienced on here.
With most forums, however, once I start posting, I don't leave to easily. I don't get involved with any sort of drama, ever - be it on the internet, at work, at school, or anywhere else. I hate drama. Some people on this site seem very keen on starting fights, and I just don't get involved with that shit.
I agree that there can be some rather extreme opinions at this board. Abit cool that there's a group who actually react when autistics infact are being oppressed though, which certainly do happen.
I'd say this is a nice place to point out what we as autistics don't like, and meet people who are more likely to understand and agree.
BB has been an amzing help for me and I cant live with out-I tryed for half a year.
And I surtenly Appriciate the way frenship develops there.
Ive got many good friend through BB,some Aspies, some Adhd-ers and so on.The nice thing there is that people support eachother and stick up for eachother in thick and thin, and everyone knows the caracterists about eachothers diagnose so it function very well dipite the differences.
On a note I also find it nice that they have a limitedet amount postes (is it 280 or something,I dont know)for coming in to the "core" of the sosiety,so its closed for nosy peole who spy or just post one post and leave.(that does happen.)
They also have there own section for parents and grown-ups with diagnoses (wich is sat higher then 20 or something I think, so that they can save the youngsters for unnessery heavy problems.
The youngster-sections are up to age 24 I think.
It is a really cool place.
The quality is remarcable.
Well, than I wrote my oppinion on
my Bb.

Maby someone might find it worth reading anyway.
BB is another forum...
Personally I don't think I've seen any real good aspergers sites lately, I think many of them don't discriminate enough. You can't tell who's faking their diagnosis and who's real, and who's misdiagnosed and has "Copy cat" traits, from simply life experiences.
Many of the posts I read over at WP for instance many don't seem to be aspie @ all, and there are ones are just plain weird, which I wonder if they got dropped a few too many times as baby.

Bah, I relate and trust my friends' experiences.
Experiences is what's important.
BB has their problems, I know an aspie who feel she has been treated badly by the authorotives there - A parent who put alot of nasty words on her childs diagnosis got the symphathy of the admins when she criticized it, while quite alot of members disagreed with the admins and left after major changes was done on the forum after that incidence.
There are ofcourse some really great stuff at BB that are not at AFF or WP. Everyone list up their diagnosis, age and relation to other diagnosed in their signature or "personal comment" - which is a small text written under the username and avatar. Avatars also have a max size which gives a feel of order.
There are however about 50 forums where most have subforums aswell. I follow mainly three forums, but I guess there are some things in the other forums I could find interesting.
Most of the forums are non-visible to people who are not members, so the first time I visited it I thought it was a very little active board, it is about as active as AFF.
The forum is not in English, surprised?

Experience is important, no doubt about that. I think what I meant to say was: It's hard to find the mature posts.
What I dislike about other sites is that usually there is a lot of misinformation.
Wrong planet for instance has some really good forum members and posts but a lot of junk as well, but it's really active (or popular enough) that the host is asking for donations for excessive bandwidth costs.
Well first I came back, then Meilolyn came back, and I have seen Bob Bobson online sooo.. ;p
