Our little baby boy was born August 18th, at 6:18pm. Smile He appears to be perfectly healthy. Smile

He was 8 lbs 1.2 oz (3660 g) and 19.5 in long. I don't have a link to any pics yet, sorry.

I'm leaving the hospital (I ended up needing a c-section...) tonight, even though they'd at first said that I needed to stay at least 72 hours. I'm glad they're letting me go home because it's impossible to get any rest here; every time I go to sleep someone walks in needing some signature or my blood pressure or w/e or such. So I'm pretty tired but overall I'm feeling pretty happy as well... Gene's so wonderful. Smile

Anyway, I'll get around to writing more later, in a few days from now or something.

Gefeliciteerd!!

That's exactly what I was going to say!!

Okay, maybe not exactly... Big Grin

We were talking about you just a few days ago and hoping you were doing well. I hope you'll be back again soon!

Yea!!! Baby Gene is here!

Congrats Marieke!  Hope all went well (umm... C-section!) and that everyone is recovering okay.

Good Luck with the healing/bonding that comes with those first few weeks!
Congratulations.best wishes for your son having a good life.
HOORAY!!!

So glad to hear you and the baby are fine!

I was given a choice of C-section or forceps, and my husband said go for the forceps, which we did.  Beware of pain medicine cutting your appetite, which will make it harder to lactate.  (No one told me this, and I wasn't able to make much milk on the almost nothing I was eating.)

Let your husband do as much as he can, that's my best advice.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!
I second Jewelie's congratulatons.
Is his hair as red as it appears in the pics? Beautiful! Thanks for posting and tell Marieke I'm wishing her and gene-gene all the best!
Congratulations! Welcome Baby!

I was leaking tons of milk! Still do, though not quite as much. The pain medicine did make me horribly constipated though, which caused my hemorrhoids to come back

I well remember both - Sad

I found that the milk pads supplied were useless and used 'femine articles' instead!

I'm very sorry that I missed this thread .

Congratulations to you both & two month old baby Gene
The admin thing sounds about rightRolleyes
I was out 8 hours after John was born, that was an easy birth..I couldn't wait to leave.
If you had a c-section, I believe you need to be careful about skull reshaping issues for the baby--problems with shaping of the skull can cause Asperger's.

The American Association of Pediatricians (or something) says that if at two months old your baby doesn't respond to his name you should discuss it with your pediatrician.

OR... maybe he would prefer a different name. Big Grin

Huh?  I thought I'd heard of EVERYTHING that gets put out there as the cause of Asperger's.  Are you joking?
Oh, and the important thing, Marieke, your son is absolutely beautiful, and I wish you happiness and joy!

And read the last paragraph in the post (post #1), where the OP states his belief that skull-reshaping issues contributed to his AS.

Personally, I'd be somewhat sceptical of claims such as that as it's becoming more and more suspected that autism is genetic.
I know it's really late, but I completely missed this thread until now.
Congratulations for both you and your husband! (Gene is a nice name, by the way)
