It doesn't exactly scream "this is a movie about autism" but the preview makes me think that it has striking similarities.

From what I get from the preview and notes:

John Cusack's character adopts a 6YO that stays in a box shortly after the death of his wife in an attempt to gain a "family connection".

The boy claims to be from mars and does wierd things like dump his coke on a hotdog. Its labeled as a romatic drama... so I wonder how much of the story would actually be about the kid.

Anyone else with thoughts/ideas about this movie?

If this is the one I'm thinking of, it's an adaptation of science fiction writer David Gerrold's book about his son. He adopted his son when the boy was 6 years old and had been badly treated til that time. the boy is not autistic, but sometimes acted odd and said he was a Martian.The book is not bad, I don't know anything about the movie.
