11. Its a prime. Its the loony number. It was my exam-number in highschool. And in university 121 was my exam-number. The day of my birthday has the same number as the month. So I can divide that by 11 (alas, not born on 11-11) And a prime number will be the result. I can flip and/or mirror the number 11 too.

I had a 6 digit studentnumber that I could put upside down and it would stay the same. I've had that with more bigger numbers. But 11 is simple and has this perfection in it already. So its the first number I really fancied.

The birthyear of my dad is the only one I don't have to calculate from my year of birth, probaly because its a prime. I do need anchors in years to relate other years to. I cannot remember years otherwise.

I do have a huge memory of data though, without the year that is.

I like the way 1 and the root of 2 are related on a A-4 paper or an A-3 etc.

I bet you'll really enjoy the time 11:11:11 on November 11, 2011.  I've been anticipating that day since 1993.  It's also a Friday, so there will be lots of parties for the occasion... all for the sake of one fleeting second (or two fleeting seconds if you consider both AM and PM).

11-11 has always been a favorite day to me. Children here walk with decorated lampions from door to door in the dark. Singing and getting sweets.

I liked it better than X-mas, sinterklaas and easter. All those lights. The warmth of the candles, the dark, the freezing cold wind and of course the candy. And the date.

"I've been anticipating that day since 1993"

Just curious, why since 1993?

Cuz that's when I got a calculator wrist watch which displayed the year, month, date, hour, minute, and second all simultaneously.  I wanted to see all 12 of those 1s lined up together.  Of course, I could have set it to that time at any time, but that would be cheating.  Sadly, I accidentally broke it years ago while replacing the battery.

What is this 11/11 festivity?  It seems similar to America's Halloween on 10/31.

11-11 is the dyingday of st Martin of Tours. This man used to be a bishop. He lived in the fourth century. When he was young he was a soldier for the roman empire. As a soldier he is said to have torn his cloak in two halves so he could give one half to a beggar. He only could give half his cloak, because the other half belonged to the roman empire.

So the day of st Martin became a day of giving. And kids make lanterns out of paper, cardboard, beetroots, bottles etc. It does look a bit like halloween, but the scary part is not there.

Its not celebrated everywhere in my country, but in the region where I was a kid it was, and where I live now too.

Oooh... I'll have to wikipedia that one.  I've heard of it, but never used it.

At this moment there are 7777 threads.

Oooh, Hyke, I took a screenshot of this page....  because when you posted to say there were 7777 threads, your post was #13.  I want to remember this moment.  Big Grin
My favorite number is 7, with 13, 3, and 9 following behind.  These are magic numbers.  7 is also my personal lucky number.  I want to get married on 3/7/13 (or 7/3/13, I suppose, or 9/7/13 or 7/9/13, ect.).
The only thing that could make the above post better would be Hyke having 333 posts.  I'm going to wait for that moment and come back for another screenshot.  Tongue

Luai_lashire, I love it, numbers can make me laugh. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Great to meet others to share the fun of numbers with.

Simen; the 2,4,8 sequence is great. My dad would recall it often during meals when we were little. Just to show us how fast doubling could be. So not only the sequence is great, it makes me remember nice family meals.Smile

I get 42 Simen, I think, but it did not appeal to me. In fact, as a kid 42 and 56 were difficult numbers, don't know why. 42 is OK now, its my lifespan. But 56? The only way I could do 7x8 or 8x7 was by thinking; its that difficult number. Who knows, in 14 years I might like 56Big Grin

At the second dx interview I was asked if I liked numbers a lot. I said, 'a bit', but then I felt my face turning into a big smile and said: 'Yes, numbers are fun!'

The root of -1, Oh I've ignored numbers far to long....

I've reached 333 and I'm going to bed now. (jawning smilie would be nice) Good Night.

I've always loved the 1 multiple series:

1 x 1 = 1
11 x 11 = 121
111 x 111 = 12321
1111 x 1111 = 1234321
11111 x 11111 = 123454321
