My new obsession is entering sweepstakes, particularly those sponsored by electronics stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.)
I feel that I have a lucky streak going. But I don't gamble at casinos or anything, after I lost $13 on the slot machines at the casino on a cruise ship a few years back.

I had fun doing that for a while, and rebates. I have a friend who networks with some group online where they tip each other off on where to get free samples of everything.
Just keep in mind that nothing is really free in this world. All those merchants want you to sign up to win or get things just to get the information about you that you fill out on the forms. They use it to spam you with ads or sell it to other companies to spam you.
The worst example I remember was a local ice cream parlor that had a birthday club one filled out a card for. On a kid's birthday, he got a free ice cream cone. One guy filled in his dog's name to get an extra free cone. To his surprise, his dog got a notice in the mail from the government, stating he (the dog's name) needed to register for the US Selective Service. Yup, the ice cream parlor was selling the info on these kids to the government for the military draft. It was quite the ugly scandal when that hit the news.
