I bet there are a few people here that are into the underground music (as in  "unsigned music") scene. Underground artist are allowed to make whatever the hell they want without mainstream record labels pushing them around. It is a great music scene, although alot of bad press comes from the underground bands that are popular (ICP, Twizted, some war metal bands, and a few doom metal bands). One of my personal favorite underground bands is "Melovine" (although I am disappointed with their newer stuff that sounds like it can be put on the radio any second).
Ahg! Need edit button.

I forgot to add: Is there anyone that knows about a few underground bands that we can have a listen to?

Looks like you have a big underground music library. Which ones do you prefer over others?

It's entirely dependant on my mood. I have over 30 GB of music on my computer, most of it is quite underground. --I'm currently listening to the Boredoms Super ae! release.

Pavement is one of my favorite bands.
I don't know much about the indie music scene, but I LOVE indie films!

My school is full of indie film worshipers. I have seen some indie films that were amazing, but I can't remember the titles.

What college might that be?

I don't go to college yet, I go to high school Tongue. The high school is called East Hollywood High (but its not in California). Its a film education school that teaches film making.

Quite a few anarcho/crust punk bands listed. I love Suicide, Rocket from The Tombs, Pere Ubu and the Dead Boys. Sonic Reducer is a true classic.

Any GG Allin fans here? He's so bad, he's good.

Jabbers era GG was some pretty good stuff. GG played Drums, and actually mixed down a lot of that stuff after it was recorded. He got into drugs like heroin after his divorce, and started his whole nihilism, shitting on stage soon after. I met him in '86, and he seemed to be OK, though he was known for flying into a rage and beating on people for no real reason.

A (now deceased) freind played drums for the macking band that he took on his aborted US Tour in the summer of '88. --They only made it as far as NYC, or more specifically, a no-show on the Morton Downey Jr. show.

I was quite frankly turned off by anything he did suring this time, as well as the stuff that he did when he was released from prison.

The Jabbers era stuff was brilliant power pop meets hardcore and quite funny with it. Sublimely riduculous stuff that I can take to any indie disco and people will dance to it. What's more funny than a line like: "I used to sniff girls pantyhose/but there's nothing like a girl sitting on your nose"?

When he turned more demented and stupid, it was because of his divorce mixed with a plan to get the danger and rebellion back to rock'n'roll. I even think he had a valid point about how rock'n'roll was going at that time and it's corporate appropriation. You only have to read his manifesto to see that.

You into the Spo-its?

Do you read WIRE. It sometimes comes with a CD (the Wire Tapper) of interesting new music. I'm currently listening to # 11; came free with the june 2004 issue. 16 tracks by 16 acts.

I never really got into them, as I never heard much about them. I was into The Plasmatics, though when they were still a punk band, and I remember seeing them appear live on Fridays (ABC network's somewhat short lived Saturday Night Live clone) in the fall of 1980.
