Yippee! Just the party I wanted! A distasteful celebration of ignorance, neurotypicality, and Cure Autism Now! I am so thrilled! Yay!

...Not! In case I've never told you, my birthday is on February 28th, the exact same date the issue of Newsweek that was recieved today has on the cover. This pro-cure-fest is stated on the cover: "Babies And Autism: Why New Research On Infants May Hold The Key To Better Treatment". Notice the keyword: "better". It is a mere opinion of the neurotypicalkind. When people say something's "better", it is usually just their opinion. However, in this case, it is.

Flip it open to the "Top of the Week" and you will see more ignorance. "Cover Story: In their battle to solve the heart-breaking mystery of autism, scientists are now studying babies to try and find out when the disorder begins.". If anyone is heart-breaking, it is most definitely whoever wrote that. I can already picture their ignorance tearing the parent of a neurotypical's heart out through their chest, which most certainly would not be very pleasing to watch. I also think that studying babies is rather cruel and is just too much. "What does this research show?" Well, here I am re-searching this article description for any intelligence whatsoever, and I have nothing. "And what can parents learn from the new work as they struggle with when and how to treat their children?" They can learn that they are wasting valuable time and money on not realizing that their children will not grow up to be ridiculeers of "different" kids, obsessing over social interaction and peers, and saying "shut up" too much.

You can skip ahead to page 45, where they refer to autism as a "devastating devolopmental disorder". Do they not realize that neurotypical is more devastating, more of a developmental disorder, and therefore more of a problem? Obviously, they do not.

Five pages ahead into the article, ignorance takes its toll once again as they mention that "1 child in 166 has autism", which, of course, also means that the other 165 have neurotypical. Which is larger? I thought you had to know subtraction to get a job in mental health. Apparently, you only have to be mind-numbingly ignorant. They also refer to neurotypicals as "healthy", which is not true (neurotypicals are more prone to ignorance [obviously], gumsnobbery, and all sorts of other disastrous, sickening disorders, diseases, and disgusting behaviors that we autistics do not or rarely get). There is also one part of these pages that seem to be an advertisement for CAN itself (this is in the "More Information" part when they mention its website in all its ignorance).

Skip to the next page, page 50. Autism on NBC advertisement. Is it not time for a "Neurotypical on <<<<insert popular media network's name here>>>>" to educate them about a disorder that strongly overshadows autism? That is obviously never coming, as this world is practically, and pathetically, run by neurotypicals. Ugh.

Three pages later, they say that Cure Autism Now advocates autism. Allow me to grab my dictionary and look up the word "advocate". The definition of "advocate" is "to plead in favor of", which CAN obviously does not. CAN pleads in favor of neurotypicals and their population to increase again. They only thing they plead for us to do is to get help, so they actually plead against us. The truth is that CAN needs help with their ignorance, and so did the writer of the article.

And so, I believe we should do something about this epidemic of ignorance that is starting to fill the media.
Sad  Thats sad Mich.

Don't let it spoil your birthday though.
