As you may know that there has been week long series on autism on NBC (FEB 21-25). Only one show that has outside segments was the NBC show called the Today show. I used this venue to make known mine and Aspies for freedom's (AFF) dissatisfaction with the viewpoints expressed.
I made three signs. They are as follows.
Autistics Are
intelligent
"Autism Speaks"
is not!

Are codewords for

"Autism Speaks" is the new group setup by the chairman of NBC - Bob Wright.
I am happy to report that I was treated better as a whole than I was at the NAAR walk. No gestural obscenities etc. However, I had a few words with some of the people standing next to me. They were upset with my political message. I was informed by one lady that she was here to have fun. I tried to explain to my position. I think but I am not sure that the camera caught me looking at one of my neighbors saying - "I am doing this for my people".
At one or two points when there was a lull in the noise. I shouted "No Cure for Autism". Man, Did that turn some heads!!
I saw Al Roker out there. He took a couple of double takes reading my posters. Katie Couric was there as well as Matt Lauer.
I do know however that a couple times I was seen on camera. They had monitors outside so you could see what was playing.
We need more out there doing this. We cannot be silenced. Silence is death.
