I've been wondering if there are any other Jehovah's Witnesses other than me on this site.

Sure thing. Jehovah's Witnesses are very much different than members of mainstream Christianity. First off, unlike most (if not all) sects of Christianity, we reject the Trinity doctrine. We believe that God (Jehovah), Jesus, and the holy spirit(s) were all created separately, whereas the Trinity is God, Jesus, and the holy spirit as one being. We are well-known for disbelieving in blood transfusions. To quote Leviticus 7:26-27 in the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, 'And you must not eat any blood in any places where you may dwell, whether that of fowl or of beast. Any soul who eats any blood, that soul must be cut off from his people'. Also, Mark 8:36 adds, 'Really, of what benefit id it for a man to gain the whole world and to forfeit his soul?'. In other words, putting a man's life ahead of God's commandments can be fatal. Jehovah's Witnesses congregate in a kingdom hall instead of a church. We also are more strict with who is in the congregations. There are a number of reasons a member of the religion can be discharged. These include but aren't limited to: Abortion (which we consider murder), adultery, apostacy (abandoning what is considered by a group to be the right doctrine), bestiality, voluntary blood transfusions, drug and alcohol abuse, extortion, fornicating, fraud, heresy, homosexuality, incest, interfaith activity, murder, perversive sexual relations, polygamy, & theft. Contrary to popular belief, this religion isn't a cult. We do NOT own our members' land and we are NOT extremists. Now, if you ARE disfellowshipped, you can be reinstated, but only if you can show you are trully sorry for what you did. I'll tell you more later.

He didn't look very far. Many denominations are far less obsessed with condemning everybody and everything than the JW's, and much less controlling and abusive toward their members.

Quakers, Unitarians, United Church of Christ -- wonderful, loving, embracing denominations.

It seems like DigiModify just wanted to know if there were any Aspie JW's like himself around - he wasn't really trying to push his beliefs on anyone, and probably doesn't deserve a lot of the attacks on his religion.

Guardian001 said he would like information about the JW's so I provided some: http://www.godulike.co.uk/faiths.php?cha...ubject=who

What are the attacks on his religion? If there are error in the article I provided, correct them, but otherwise facts are facts, not attacks.

Several comments by various people throughout the forum have had a distinctly anti-JW tone.

That's to be expected.

Just as religions -- JW's being a prime example -- often have hateful views of people, people often reject those religions' irrational and destructive teachings.

There was this thread around here around christmas - I think it was named Nice Christmas.... NOT! something that didn't really give witnesses a good stereotype for a while in this forum. I think it was something about a brother in coma who was denied blood tranfusion from his parents and then died. The rejection of blood tranfusion was because of some religious belief.
In this story I mentioned I think the blame is more on the parents ofcourse. His brother who told the story had already discussed what to do if ever a such situation came up, still the parents wanted that he had nothing to do with the decision of no blood transfusion.

That thread is called - nice x-mas... NOT!! - and it was posted by Vampslord on December 24, last year. It's in the General section...

This sounds like a case for vegetarianism not blood transfusions - "eat"... "fowl"... "beast" - none of which have to do with transfusion from fellow humans and which would not even have been knowledge at the time this passage was written.

Any comments to justify why it would be blood transfusions would help with understanding the logic behind the reasoning and would be appreciated.

Why do so many religions hate the truth?

For the same reason you hate the truth.Wink

Because truth is an enemy of every power that is based on inflexible foundations. Religions claim the hetero-normative family formation as the only right constellation. The patriarch has all the power. No one wants to give away their power. I think it's that easy...
You're exactly right ichtms!Wink
One of the ways that people exert power over others-especially over large groups of people-is to deliberately decieve them. The more uncertainty people have over what is true, the easier they are to manipulate. Its very much a form of brain-washing.

Or a case against vampirism. What does blood-eating have to do with transfusions?

I've never heard of a doctor in an emergency room saying "Nurse! This patient needs to eat three units of blood, stat!" (Or would it be Lestat?)

I LOVE IT! Your mind is so much more creative than mine!

The big flaw with JW:s is that they crave our acceptance but wont accept us. Most religious groups have some kind of program of helping people regardless of their beliefs. JW:s haven't.
